Review for pantilt optical zoom dual band

Price was $69.98. Fantastic cameras once you get them set up. . 1. Connect via ethernet first to set up wifi. 2. Update the firmware! . . As the other reviewers noted, you can't configure wifi until you've connected via ethernet (blue cable) first. I did that and then wasted 5 hours fighting the wifi settings, with no luck. I tried renaming my networks, removing security, disabling mac filtering, 2. 4ghz and 5ghz networks, but nothing worked - until i went back, read the other reviews again, and realized i needed to upgrade the firmware as other reviewers had done. After that, presto! both cameras immediately connected to my wifi on the first try. Duh. . Now i'm super happy that these really solid, cool looking cameras are purring away recording video over wifi. They seem very well built. The included software works well for my needs so far too. Next step is to mount them outside and set up my recording preferences. I'm very excited because i can monitor them from my pcs and my phone using the reolink software. These have a ton of functionality for a great price and i love the way they look too. . Update: 1 year later, these are still working great. I just ordered another one because i know they work well on my network.

I purchased the reolink c2 camera back in jan 2017. For the price, you won't find a camera with a better resolution. It has a removable micro sd card (i installed a 64 gb that i purchased separately). Setup was super simple as i only bought one camera to try. I like that it supports 2-way audio and that it has an ethernet port as well as wifi capability. The panning and tilting works well from the app and i was able to easily create presets to recall the camera to specified locations. When i first installed it, i was getting choppy artifacts on the audio during playback. I reported this to the support team and we interacted over email and eventually they informed me that it was a bug and it would be addressed in a future firmware update. Within a week or so the firmware was released and i installed it and that fixed my issue. I work as a software project manager for an audio company and this response time to get that issue fixed was pretty swift. The audio of the camera isn't really high def but it is pretty clear considering you can listen remotely off-site. Oddly enough the audio is good enough to trigger alexa skills by speaking the command through the reolink app since my online store dot is in the same room (i spoke to alexa and used it to turn on the light in the room and i was 50 miles away). It would be nice if this camera was poe so it could be mounted having only one connection and didn't need to be near a power outlet. As it currently is designed, you need to have this camera near a power outlet or else have unsightly cables hanging down. I have it on a shelf to hide the cables. I also wish that reolink would release cgi commands to the public for their cameras so that third party apps like homeseer could control reolink cameras (pan/tilt/zoom, etc. ). Review update sept. 27, 2016:. Finished mounting this at the front of my property, here is a night shot. To be fair, there is some additional light from my dusk to dawn. . Review update! this now rates as a five star in my opining i. E. Price vs performance. By contacting the seller i was able to find a setting which was buried in the user menu, sound now functions. Additionally, i changed the lens setting (i did not realize that could be done) and now, at least the night video quality is very good (see the black and white photo). If it goes negative on me, i'll be sure to update again. . Let me begin by saying, the camera and the app work ok although you will need to devote some time to configuring it all. I'm not going to repeat what others have said here relative to the bad instructions although the quick start sheet, i felt, was ok. One difficulty i encountered was working past the user name and password on multiple devices so be careful if you are configuring both desktop and smart phone. I suggest setting your system up with the factory settings and then go in and change it all, especially if you are using both smart phone and computer devices for viewing. Name the camera(s), such as camera 1, 2, 3 etc. To begin. . Now then, my thought process for the three star rating. The video is not particularly good at a distance, say in a driveway shot, however, it's ok for closeup viewing such as looking at your front door or in a hall etc. The firmware upgrade was easy to perform, remember to reboot the camera and format the disc. Software for the mac works just fine. I paid close attention to the description of this product as i particularly wanted sound. Below is pasted the product description, it clearly states it has audio function, yet once configured the app tells you "not supported". This is a seller issue but since i had planned on ordering one camera with sound and another with the zoom feature, now we'll see how the seller handles this situation. So i may be back and modify the rating. "camera specifications. Video quality: 4 megapixel (2560 x 1440). Lens: f 4. 0mm, f 2. 0. Viewing angle: 80 . Microphone: yes (audio within 15ft). Night vision: up to 100ft (depends on the environment). Frame rate: up to 30fps. Operating power: 12v. Network: 802. 11ac/b/g/n, support 2. 4g and 5. 8g. Wifi signal range: 300ft in open space. Storage: built-in and fixed 16gb mirco sd card. Network connectivity: p2p and qr code. Computer os: windows, mac os. Mobile os: ios, android. . Attached picture is a shot inside my breezeway where it's quite clear. When i took it outside to the mounting area, the images looking back at the house were not as good. . No, i am not a paid reviewer who receives free stuff. Thanks for looking! -D. Brendon

Normally i use poe for my cameras but i needed one for a tricky area where i simply cannot run ethernet (there's a big concrete slab in the way and fortunately the previous owners ran power out past it. So. I have power on a pedestal at least. . For that setup, wifi was perfect, and i chose this mainly because reolink supports 802. 11ac and i wanted the best chance of getting a strong signal back to my wifi router. The camera is about 70 feet away outside and then through the wall of the house it's only another 10 feet to the wifi router, but i do get a good, strong signal and the video is streaming to blue iris just fine at 10 fps (which is what i have it set to). . Getting reolink cameras setup in blue iris is easy. I had a problem with one of my reolink cams (a rlc-411ws) where the lower half of the image would "smear" or blur in blue iris about every 20-30 seconds. Switching it to h. 264 baseline (instead of main or high) fixed it. On this camera though, the 410ws, i have it set to h. 264 main right now and it's fine. I always thought it was a bug in blue iris causing it, something in the way it decoded the main/high h. 264 profiles, but oh well. Blue iris currently can't handle the h. 265 from my dahua ptz either, so stuff like that happens even on a more expensive cam. . The day quality of this camera is awesome. I had to put it out at the street because the cams on my house can't "see" the street through the foliage that well, and after a neighbor had their entire trailer stolen, i knew i needed more coverage just in case they came back for more. Yeah, in the day i can get good high res of cars, including license plate info. . At night of course it's super hard to get license plates with any cam unless you dedicate a cam just for that purpose, but the ir lights on this cam do a good job of illuminating my area of interest, and i am adding a secondary ir illuminator. If for no other reason than to help keep the spiders away from the camera. . Don't let the haters on ipcamtalk bully you into thinking this camera doesn't work with blue iris since i and others can attest to the proven fact that it does work. Is it a "starlight" dahua? well, no, and if you want awesome low light video then you can spend a lot more for one of those but you won't get wifi, a built in mic, and those are only 2mp. I do like my dahua starlight ptz, don't get me wrong, but boy i wish they had one available with higher resolution. . This cam doesn't have zoom, but just for the record, reolink autofocus when zooming in/out (on the 411ws and 423 that i have) is incredibly slow and kind of buggy. At night i usually have to manually focus in/out after zooming and letting it try to figure it out. But yeah, that part doesn't apply to this camera since it's fixed focus. . The attached photo is from a blue iris snapshot which reduced the resolution, but you'll get the idea of the fov. I like having the wide angle even though the edges are barreled some because of it. I didn't really know what it was before i bought it but i'm happy at how it turned out since i could cover more of the street even though it's pretty close to it.

Click to see NoticeReolink C2 Optical Security Adaptor (Surveilance Systems)"Excellent cameras, i got rid of the other brands and use this brand only. Image quality is excellent, audio is excellent but you must have audio support for the cameras either from computer speakers or external speakers hooked up to an nvr, 3rd party (consumer grade) (wifi) nvrs that support audio are hard to find and most are proprietary and must use their cameras for audio to work. The cameras work with 3rd party nvrs i have 4 around the house and a cheap nvr with 1 tb laptop hard drive and it works like a charm, it does what i need it to do, it is quiet, records every movement and i can monitor remotely, wifi connectivity is a must in my case, and these cameras maintain a good solid connection, i have wire mesh around the 2 story house and still get full bars of signal strength on all of them, just make sure you have a good wifi signal all around, they work perfectly during bad weather . Reolink have good tech support it is email based and sometimes replies are not that useful and you must wait for them to start their work day, but overall they do a good job, their website offers support and troubleshooting procedures, they will work with you to solve the issues, their return policy is very good, so in my book is a good company that take care of their customers. I'm just a regular consumer and not getting anything in return for this review."

TP-LINK TL-PoE150S PoE Injector Adapter, IEEE 802.3af compliant, up to 100 meters 325 Feet

Fixed the power supply for my 700e outdoor logitech camera. The powerline 200 adapter combined with the poe injector (tp-link: tl-poe150s) replaced my non working logitech camera power supply. You connected the tl-poe150s to your camera with the output going to the powerline 200 adapter. The powerline adapter sends the camera signal to your existing computer software. The tl-poe150s is powered with an adapter and the powerline 200 also plugs in to ac. The configuration is larger than one box but my camera works again. The commander software told me to update the adapter software so i did that and i also had to unplug the new components and then reboot my computer. After that my software found the camera and it is working.

View larger the poe injector tl-poe150s fully complies with ieee 802. 3af standard, and can work with all ieee 802. 3af compliant pds (powered devices) and poe splitter such as tp-link s tl-poe10r, to expand your network to where you wish to place pds but has no power outlet. I have several of these poe injectors and they work well. Not a lot can go wrong, but very reliable. -Notice from Z. Kimberly, Stockport

I finally found the right solution for my logitech alert camera. This is a cheaper alternative for a busted power supply. However, it needs a logitech powerline module (about $20) for the camera to work. I would recommend this product.

- T. AnonymousThis isn't my favorite switch, but it is cheap. I really wish that there were better standards for network equipment. Everyone processes vlans differently and that drives me nuts. I have this switch connected to a ubiquiti wireless ptp link. Everything seems to work correctly, but i can't communicate with the ptp link without tagging my data packets with the correct vlan, even though the port i'm plugged into has the correct vlan untagged. That's just a minor nuisance. That being said, the switch works well in every other fashion. The easy smart software is decent.

Just what i needed for my cameras

Been wanting to install a security camera system for some time and saw this package in the lightning deal section at a great sale so i made the jump. If i had it to do over again i would have selected the kit with 4 bullet cameras for my installation (instead of 2 bullets and 2 domes). I put the dome cameras on the side of the house that doesn't get sun so i thought they would work fine since they don't have a shielded lens. The dome cameras seem to be more susceptible to glare at night from the infrared leds reflecting off nearby soffit panels, causing some haze in part of the image. All the camera images look fine in the day and the bullet cameras don't have the reflected ir glare at night which i suspect is blocked the lens shield on the bullet camera model. Eventually, i'll move the 2 dome cameras to inside coverage areas and put bullet cameras in their current outdoor locations. . The hd images are very clear but not as tack sharp as what you might expect from a typical hd tv image. Don't get me wrong, they are very good images, just not quite as sharp as the best hd images you see on tv. . All the cameras have a wide field of view and at night the illumination from the ir leds is noticeably brighter in the center of the image. It appears the angle of led illumination is not quite as wide as the lens field of view. You still get some ir illumination at the edges of the image, just not as bright as the center. The effective distance of the ir leds for me maxes out at about 40 feet. Areas of my yard lit by outside lights show up well at night. When the light level drops, the cameras automatically switch from color to black and white infrared and the built-in ir leds switch on with a faintly visible red glow. . The nvr unit looks nice but i recommend installing it in an area where the noise from the fan won't be a nuisance. I put mine in an entertainment center cabinet and i don't hear the fan noise. Place the mouse in a convenient location if you plan to connect the nvr to your tv and want to interact with it regularly. . The client app works well for me on a laptop. Both the nvr and client software are easy to use and the documentation i downloaded is easy to follow. The setup gives you the option to push motion alerts to your email. I tried the email feature for a while but stopped it since i was getting alerts anytime an insect walked across the lens or outside lights turning on and off changed the images and triggered alerts. Even with the motion sensitivity turned as low as it can go, i still got too many emails for my liking. All my cameras cover fairly large areas so the nuisance alerts are unavoidable. If you plan to install a camera to cover a small area, like a door, the email alert feature would probably be useful. . All in all, i'm very happy with this kit. I'm glad i did not go with a wireless ip camera kit and chose a poe kit. Even with a wireless camera, you still need to run power to a spot near each camera if there is not an outlet nearby. Poe gives you the data and power connections in one ethernet cable between each camera and the nvr unit. With poe you don't need to be concerned about wireless signal strength between your router and the cameras. The cables supplied with the cameras are about 60 feet long which worked for my installation. If you need a longer cable, be sure to get one with all 8 wires terminated at each connector for a poe installation. Basic ethernet cables only use 4 of the 8 wires for data. . Speaking of installation, if you are confident drilling holes to run poe cables and fishing the cables through walls, attics, etc. , it is a fairly easy diy project. If not, you need to consider getting someone to do the installation. . If you are shopping for a security camera system, you should give the reolink kits a serious look.

Rlk8-410b4 comes with one 8-channel 4mp poe nvr and four 4mp bullet cameras, with a built-in 2tb hdd. The 1440p hd quality video offers sharp resolutions. The system won t occupy and congest your home network, and it can transfer stable videos in its internet. It is further enhanced by diy installation with zero configurations for not only the connectivity between cameras and nvr, but also the external access to the system. The installation is as easy as any common analog security systems by ethernet cables, and this system gives much higher resolution and image quality. The system can plug and play with any reolink poe cameras, including rlc-410/410s/411/411s/420/422/423.

Reolink Business Security Waterproof Rlk8 410b4 (FG-23) FAQ.

What a pleasant surprise , when i received our new security cameras. These are a "first class" product and something me and my husband have been talking about for sometime. Easy to install just download the free app and sign up for an account. I was really amazed by the quality of this camera. It came fast and looks great. Easy to set up, i called support and they were very helpful. -Notice from A. Palmer, Hertfordshire

I was in the market of a poe security system at a good price, and i finally found this one that fits the bill. It was simple to mount the 4 cameras since it was 0-configuration. And you will make it much easier if have experience before. It took a few time to get the reolink client software running on my pc, but eventually i nailed it and i was really happy with it.

- C. AmandaWhat a awesome system. Easy to install and the picture in every camera is very good. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone looking to buy one for their home or small business.

Amazing capabilities at this price point. I was looking for a poe camera setup that could handle my entire home and it was frankly hard to find something that offers 4mp resolution on the market. I wanted something that could easily zoom and capture license plates on the street in front of my home but also offered nice apps for ios, android and windows/web. Reolink had all these features. I installed 8 bullet cameras, one dome camera for the front door and the high end ptz camera they offer for a total of 10 cameras. One thing everyone should think about it using ethernet to supply power (poe) instead of wireless. My home is 5000+sf so wireless can be unpredictable anyway and with wireless you still need to have power available to the camera which can make things much more complicated and expensive. Poe does all of this over cat6 cables and installers frankly prefer to use ethernet cabling. I have had no problem running long distances with the reolink nvr using cat6 cables and cat6 terminators, unlike some other people have reported. The first nvr i received immediately failed though, and i had to replace it. The new unit has been running good for a month so far and the cameras have held up well under heavy rains.

The F.A.Q. for reolink c2 pan/tilt 3x optical zoom 2.4/5ghz dual band wi-fi security ip camera with adaptor, 4mp, black

Camera is far better than i expected. The image quality, especially at night, is better than what i have seen with more expensive cameras. Also, the ability to hear and speak through the camera is pretty useful, although very laggy. Don't expect much from the zoom capabilities, but it is pretty good. I really like the ability to program ptz positions. For example, i have one for the 10 and 2 o'clock positions which makes it very easy to view specific spots where i want to look. I believe you are allowed up to 7 positions. . The latest version of the app was a significant upgrade. The version i started off with was decent, but seemed long in the tooth. The new version is much more polished. . Also, i have tried the camera over a slow internet connection, about 1 mbps, and a faster 40mbps connection. Obviously the 40mbps connection is better; however, the slower connection worked very well, too. . Definitely recommend this product.

I installed this reolink camera in my weekend home in the country yesterday and now i am back in the city, checking out the adjoining kitchen, dining room and living room areas all with one camera. I'm technology savvy, but far from an expert, and i did the set up all by myself (60-something female). I've already installed the apps to my phone, tablet and pc and it works well on all. I can pan up and down and left to right and use the 2 way audio to pick up sounds in the house or speak to someone near the camera. There are frequent, short power outages in the area so i have it plugged into a backup battery/surge protector to keep a constant feed. With this cam you have the ability to snap a still shot - which i have done, or record to the sd card - which i have not yet tried. Images with daylight are in color and images at night with a small amount of roomlight are in black and white and very clear. The apps have settings which can be individualized by device, including setting the time and time zone, image brightness, hue and saturation levels. It comes with the cord you will need for the initial connection to your router. Follow the instructions, name your device (camera) and disconnect from the router for wireless streaming from anywhere in the house within router range. Next purchase will be an outdoor reolink cam or two or three!

Best reolink c2 optical security adaptor (surveilance systems) in review

I am in tech support, so wasn't afraid of the other reviews that talk about the setup being a little difficult. And i agree, it did take a few hours of playing around to get it just right. To its credit, you can get it working in 10mins, but to get all the settings correct it takes some time. Plus i found the audio setting would never save via mobile app. I literally had to load software on my pc just to get to audio setting to turn on and save. The other negative is the way power cable comes out of this with 3 cables/sockets (power, switch, ethernet), so you have quite a big hole to drill to get all that through, and then you need to consider hiding all that in a junction box on other side or live with the look of that. That might be a problem for installations where getting cables through walls is not easy. . But the reason i really do like this, is that its wireless, and built in sd card, making it a unit you can make totally standalone so long as you get the power to it. No need for a recording box. I left running for a week and the sd card was only just filling up. And for my use, i am thinking that anything that goes wrong, is something from that day or overnight, so as long as i can look back at past 48 hrs, i can't imagine ill ever need to worry about not having days and days of recordings to look through. I also love how you can search for the day and time you want to search so can quickly identify the events you want to recall and replay. Plus of course, as of nov 2016, this is one of the highest definition cameras out there, certainly at this price point. . Even though first unit was a learning curve, i am confident that setting another one up will now be a snap, so that is waht im doing. Buying 2 more to complete me setup. If they could have simplified the cables, remove the bugs in the mobile app, and increased the sc card size i would have given it 5 stars.

This review is for the 4mp version of the camera. . To start with, im not giving this 5 stars because of a couple of things that are really no big deal to my application but may be for yours. First off, im sure the setup for a non tech person will be a breeze. I launched the reolink app with the camera plugged into my gigabit network via an ethernet cable and the camera popped right up. With no manipulating of software on my part. I then unplugged the ethernet connection to the camera and rebooted the camera by power cycling it and it popped right up via wifi to the reolink app. . But if you are a techy type of person, heres what i found. . I ignored the directions and went into the camera network config stuff, because i wanted to configure it for my specific use, and found out some interesting things. The default dns servers are some crazy address's that made no sense to me. Btw- this was done with an ethernet cable plugged into the camera not wifi. I changed the dns servers to match the rest of my entire network ( 65. 32. 5. 111 - 65. 32. 5. 112 ). . The gateway was the standard 255. 255. 255. 0 from default. . Next i changed the camera to a static ip address instead of dhcp. All the other cams on my blue iris poe network are programmed static. . Next i deleted the default admin user and created a login and password for myself and gave it admin privileges and rebooted the camera. . Next i went looking for the options for security options for the wifi connection- currently im running wpa2 and i cannot find anywhere in the settings to even view the type of security the camera is running. I dont know why unless the camera looks at the network security and just matches it. . I then opened a safari window and typed in the ip address and port 80 for the camera and it came right up in the safari window. . Here are the couple things that may be an issue for you . . 1- it seems to come online in the safari window and then drop connection and then re-establishe the connection. This is intermittent and seems to be no rhyme or reason why. . 2- if the window is left unattended for extended periods of time like when the screen saver has initiated ( 10-20 mins ) , it logs you out and you have to log back in to establish the connection again. This is intermittent and seems to be no rhyme or reason why. There may be an auto logoff timer that i have not found yet. Ive only had the camera for 48 hours. . 3- i suggest you dont mess with the focus buttons as it seems that there is no way to get it dead on by doing it manually. I really wish there was a button to restore the camera back to auto focus after you have screwed it up manually. If you have screwed it up manually, zoom the camera in and out and it will return to auto focus. . 4 - there is a +/- button for " iris " and it seems to have zero effect on the picture. I have no idea what it does and there is no reference to it in any of the manuals for reolink/windows/mac pdf manuals. . 5- people have complained that you can hear the zoom function while the mic is on. Yes its noisy but there is no detectable noise at the camera itself. I had my wife put her ear to it while zooming and she heard nothing. . 6 - there is no adjustment anywhere int he settings to adjust the mic gain. I have found , at times, there is awful feedback through the mic. And no, its not right next to my imac when testing. The camera is about 60' away. This would be an easy fix with a mic gain adjustment. Also there, at times, is an echo or repeat in what you say through the mic. Ie - you say go away through the mic in the reolink app and you hear through the apps live view " go away and go away for a second time". I think this revolves around the "no mic" settings or adjustments in the camera. . 7- a side note- i have yet been able to add this camera to my blue iris poe video server as there is no config info for this camera in my older version of blue iris. This is not the camera fault. . Conclusion - these cameras are a stunning improvement if you are coming from old foscam 8918 cameras that are 1mp. I have seen reviews that state that this camera is grainy in the dark. I absolutely have not found this to be correct. It looks awesome considering its using the ir leds in the dark. Its not grainy for me. But i guess thats subjective. . These issues are no big deal for me. Consider these issues before buying. But for me, its a great high def camera. . Im getting ready to order another on as i have 3 old foscam 8918's to replace. After looking at the picture from this camera, i dont even want to look at the foscams anymore. There is that big of a difference.

After trying several slightly less expensive cameras, and being disappointed i decided to spend the extra $30 and get this one. It did not disappoint. The material itself seems sturdier and less likely to rust, two antennas keep it connected to my wireless and the installation and set up were seamless. Even after i put the apps on my phone and tablet i only had to wait for it to say the login failed, double click and enter the password i set and both were showing great pictures. Updating to 5 stars as i figured out - accidentally - how to view the pic in full screen. Tap on the camera icon in the upper left, gives you a screen with options for number of screens to view, vicdeo, screenshot, etc. Then just turn your device sideways and get a full screen! great picture too. All that said, i plan to buy another for the back yard now that i've seen it in action!

First of all, i spent a significant amount of time (many, many hours) researching to get the right cameras for my application. I paid the asking price for the cameras $99. 99/each and i purchased two of them. I am not the most tech savvy person so first and foremost - they had to be easy to use and for outdoor use. I also had a list of requirements that the cameras had to meet and the reolink rlc-410ws did not disappoint. Here are the things i wanted the cameras to be able to do:. . - record to an sd card so i could review recorded images and not pay additional monitoring fees each month. - have wi-fi so i did not have to run ethernet cables and drill holes through my walls. - good quality night vision. - motion detection and send alerts by e-mail or app. - have very good hd picture quality. - can access footage remotely on iphone using app or ip address. . The reolink rlc-410ws does all of the items above very well. Also, many prior reviewers mentioned they had a hard time to setup and that the software was not intuitive. There are many good videos on youtube to show how to get started. This made the setup very easy. I had my first camera plugged in to my router and up an running in less than 10 minutes. Now, the cameras are not perfect. I do have two complaints that i think reolink could easily correct and i would have given them 5-stars. First, in order for you to connect the cameras by wi-fi you have to add it to your router. Well my router has an 18-digit wep key. The software on the cameras i received did not allow for an 18-digit wep key. (only up to 16-digits) however, there is a new software that you can download for free and it fixes this problem. I just think the cameras should have already had the newest updated software already installed on them. Again, not being the most tech savvy person, it took me over an hour to figure out why the wi-fi would not connect when i unplugged from the router for the first time. There are some basic instructions when you go to the download center to install the new software but it took me 30 minutes to click on the right things to get the download to start. (so if you don't have an 18-digit wep key like my fios router has this may not be an issue for you). If reolink included a troubleshooting guide that would have been a big help. My second issue was on the actual installation and mounting of the camera. Due to the way the camera tilts and pivots it is very hard to screw in the three screws if you are mounting in a tight location. The base is very narrow and i could only get two of the three screws inserted properly. The cameras are very well built and solid. In any event, as you can see by the pictures, i did get them mounted. The last item i want to mention is the wi-fi on the cameras is only as good as the wi-fi signal that you have at the camera. So before i mounted anything, i tested and made sure i had good signal strength and viewed it on the app while installing. I still need to make some adjustments on the motion detection as i was getting alerts every minute due to the sensitivity. So far i am very happy with my purchase and i will more than likely buy two more cameras so that every doorway in and out of my house is covered. Hope this helps you all with your security camera purchase research. "like" if this was helpful.

Tl; dr: pretty decent overall product for $100, but fixed size internal sd is absurd, passing giant plugs through a wall is annoying for a wifi camera, and the wifi could be better. I installed mine since i needed a camera setup asap, however, so mine's here to stay unless it dies or gets stolen. . Pros:. - 1440p 30 fps 8 mbps data rate! this really is the sweet spot for security camera resolution vs file size. 4k is just a bit too large to be practical with today's sd card sizes, and 1080p really isn't enough detail to read license plates or make out faces at reasonable distances away. - claims to be "waterproof" and after inspecting the assembly, it seems to be well sealed including a rubber gasket on the base to keep water out of the hole you drill in the wall to pass the cables through. Mine is installed under the eaves of my roof line so it's not in direct rain so i'm not relying heavily on it being waterproof. - dual band wifi, both bands work fine on my unit, but reception of wifi networks could be better on both bands, especially with 2 external antennae (more on that in the cons). - image quality and frame rates are really pretty great for the price. Night vision on some cameras is often so low of a frame rate that anything moving is just a blur, but this one is acceptable in the area of 15 fps. - software has enough features to set up a good auto-recording motion-detection system inside and outside of my place, including custom zones for motion detection. . Cons:. - 16gb internally-mounted micro sd card is pathetic for a 1440p camera 8 mbps ( 1 mbps), which leaves you just barely over 4 hrs of recording. Depending how busy of a street you live on or how many squirrels run through the camera in a day, you may find that your morning recordings are gone before you even get home from work. Other reviewers said they were able to open the camera up and install a 64gb card, but that might void your warranty. If you use another device to record the streamed footage, then ignore the sd card size, but reolink really needs to offer larger sizes or make it removable like on their other cameras. - wifi reception is a bit embarrassing for having 2 external antennae. My cell phone has no external antennae and holding it right next to the camera i was able to get double digit mbps download speeds but the camera struggles to find 1 bar of either band from my wifi extender. 2. 4ghz wifi band cannot stream smoothly to your pc with 1-2 bars but the 5 ghz band is just barely smoother but generally has 1-2 fewer bars because it doesn't pass through walls as well. - ethernet plug and reset switch are giant plastic knobs on the power cable bundle that you are supposed to pass through a hole in the wall. This is just absurd for a wifi camera, and i was unable to enlarge the hole in my brick garage wall to fit them both, so they're both taped up and hanging next to the camera, which is a security risk. For a wifi camera they really shouldn't have these giant plugs attached to it. Perhaps have the back of the camera screw off and there be an ethernet plug, reset switch and sd card slot accessible inside the camera for initial setup, then completely covered when the camera is outside and only have a single power cable needing to pass through the wall. - software has very little documentation, and while much of it is pretty intuitive, some of the modes like "smooth" vs "clear" have basically no information and you'll just have to switch around and see what looks best to you.

This camera is excellent value for the money for what is a standalone ptz ip camera. I'll list some pros and cons. None of the listed cons are deal breakers, and all could likely be fixed in future software updates. . Pros:. +speaker/mic combo is plenty loud/sensitive. +comes with ceiling/wall mounting bracket and a long micro usb cable for power. +camera image is clear, and night vision does a good job. +ability to control stream variables. +can pull up a raw feed through vlc. +camera setup process promotes good network security practices (a unique password must be set! ). . Cons:. -when mounting on a ceiling or wall, it makes sense to mount the camera upside down. The image can be mirrored and flipped but this does not also mirror/flip the ptz controls! one must reverse their desired input when operating the unit mounted upside down. -i can not set the motion alarm schedule or zone from the android app, these can seemingly only be done by the pc client. -i have to be sure or hit the save icon when changing settings, or they will not "stick" this is not immediately obvious in the android app. -on screen display is always in white text, which can get lost when the camera is pointed at a primarily white background. (an option for black or even green would be welcomed). -motion alarm trips with ptz, which is understandable why this happens but would be nice if the motion alarm could be temporarily disabled when ptz is being actively used. Perhaps with a timeout to where the camera returns to a preset ptz setting and resumes motion detection after so much time passes without ptz control input. . Summary:. Reolink has a great product here, with a rich feature set, though there are potential improvements that could all come form software/firmware updates. I've already purchased a second camera.

hardware build on this is solid as it should be for outside use. In live view mode it is crystal clear during daytime. The attached daytime photo snap shot loses resolution but this is normal. Most of the time you want video anyway. I use the web interface the most because i prefer the layout better than the reolink clients even though mac os and ios clients are installed. Although i'm not running a an nvr (yet), reolink supports open onvif so i can use several 3rd party software setups which take advantage of existing computers in the household. The one bothersome thing about this camera is the cabling. There is a pigtail type cabling arrangement that includes a factory reset button, ethernet cable and power. Because of the ethernet cable (which can't be removed), you'll have to drill a 3/4 size hole at minimum to get "all" wired inside the building. Ios client works well but is iphone size only and running apps on ipad doesn't work as well because of aspect ratio. The attached night video won't show up well due to compression but viewing from camera meets my needs. Motion detection and microphone pickup well.

This is one of the clearest, highest resolution cameras that i've used. I currently have it on our front porch mounted on the ceiling. It's held up well through chicago winters and performs quite well. . Pros:. - really good night vision, provides a clear picture at night. - easy to set up. - small form factor. - stable, does not require regular restarts. . Cons:. - doesn't take advantage of 5ghz wifi if your 2. 4 & 5 ssids are identical (which is the case with eero, google wifi, etc. ). - no "snapshot" url to directly access jpg feeds. I like being able put feeds directly into a web page with a video tag using the mjpeg url on foscam cameras. - rtsp stream can be choppy and doesn't always decode well on ffmpeg. I get a lot of errors in the log about stream errors. - requires proprietary plugins on your browser. This seems to be a trend with every camera manufacturer where you need to install plugins. No one has built a pure html5 interface yet

Build quality/cam housing: 3. 5 / 5. Mounting assembly: 2 / 5 (hard/impossible to adjust the cam to a desired angle with some hex screws being in the way of the antennas. ). User manual & software setup: 2. 5 / 5 (unclear on how to save motion-triggered videos, no way to specify the number of snapshots, no way to change the recorded file name prefix). Tech support: 4 / 5 (tech replies were within 24 hrs, but effective. I had to download and upgrade the cam to a newer firmware from reolink website. ). Video quality: 4 / 5 ( clear and with details, but color is not so vibrant, compared to the panasonic bl-vp104 and the amcrest ip2m-841). Audio recording: 4 / 5 (big plus, hard to find one among bullet outdoor ip cam). Night vision (motion) 2. 5 / 5 (fast moving subjects were rather blurry). Night vision (static): 4 / 5 ( quite clear & with good details ). Motion-triggered recording: 4 / 5 (not as good at night. But the configuration allows different sensitivity level on specifiable time frames, seemed to help reducing excessive false alarms; 4 user defined time frames. ). Ability to save recorded video files onto both sd card & ftp server: 4 / 5 (so you can save all the recorded videos&snapshots in a remote ftp server, even though your ip cam gets stolen - with the sd card on it. ). Ability to change sd card: 2 / 5 (i think it's not designed to have the sd card change by consumer. It's quite tricky to replace the sd card; but it can take 128gb card if formatted with fat32 - see pictures. Keep in mind that fat32 has some limits: max file size: 2g, max number files: 65, 517. To format the sd card, use the mac "disk utility" - see pictures. On windows, i think you can use some other free utility - google it. ). Dual band wifi support: 4. 5 / 5 (with dual band wifi router, you can specify a band for all your ip cams, while having the other for your computer, laptops, phones, etc. This is to avoid wifi bandwidth being used up by all the ip cams, leaving your laptops and phones stranded! ). Price & functionality: 4 / 5 (i would pay more to get a version with 128gb sd card; it would save me time - taken about 30 minutes - and hassle to do it myself. ). Durability: unknown; just been using it for about 3 weeks. It has not crashed even once; pretty reliable so far. . Updated info (12/12/2016): i have just found out that, after having the 128gb microsd card set to record motion for a little over 21 days, the ip camera stopped recording any motion, while my ftp server still receives uploaded videos for all the detected motions. The card still has about 22 gb available; and i have 'overwrite' option checked all along. Then i tried to "init" the card, which effectively deleted all the files on it. Now, it starts to record motions again! so, that is the issue with using 128gb (no overwrite possible - and it can only record up to 100gb). Current firmware version running on the cam is v2. 0. 0. 476 16111703. Hopefully, reolink will fix this issue in later firmware release (to have the overwrite function works on 128gb card).

For the price, this is a 5 star camera camera. Video quality is excellent and it's very easy to install and use. The only issue i had is that whenever i pan/tilt i will get an alert that there is activity. In reality this is necessary to prevent unauthorized access, but it's a little annoying. The software works well. I can adjust resolution, set alerts, and control the camera easily. I'm currently using this as a stand alone system at at an empty condo, but hope to eventually integrate it with a system for my home. For less than $100, i am shocked at how simple and versatile this camera is, and i'm pleased that here is no subscription or monthly fees. . Power is via usb (i think there is a battery version out now). I'm using the enclosed ethernet cable, which is pretty short. . Some reviewers have criticized the noise from pan/tilt/zoom. It is very noticeable if you're using the microphone. I think it's manageable but you may feel otherwise. . There is a speaker and microphone for two way communication. The mic is very sensitive, and i could hear the upstairs neighbor vacuuming, an air conditioner outside, and all sorts of other noises. That's good, but at first i was certain someone was inside my condo. I'm very pleased and feel this is a cheap and easy first step to getting a video surveillance system.

I have bought 10 c2 and a 411ws total. Tried them all individually and work flawlessly. The menu is real simple for the mobile devices. I also bought an amcrest 4108 nvr to connect 8 reolink cameras wirelessly. I had the option to buy the recommended reolink nvr but the amcrest one seems to be the only affordable nvr that supports recording at 4mp for all the 8 channels simultinesly (with some issues. More on that later). . The viewing angles couldn't be better since you'd get too much of a fisheye effect time it was any wider. The ptz function works like a charm as well. Specially the 3x optical zoom is amazing then you need to check details such as writings on paper from far away. Pan and tilt is almost silent and in most environment no-one can hear it move. It would be nice however to be able to buy a tinted cover so people can't see where the camera is aming at. When zooming in and out it does make some noise but it's totally within the norm for a mechanical zoom. . The setup was really easy, then hard. First i had connected all my cameras to one router and once my nvr arrived i just connected the nvr to the same router and voila! all camera up addresses showed up under the remote camera section on my amcrest nvr. Then i wanted a dedicated 5ghz router strictly for the cameras and nvr and the night mare started. The cameras connected fine to the new router without having to reset the cameras but it would not show up on the nvr remote device list. So i changed to a different brand router (airport extreme 2009), reset all the cameras and nvr and reconfigured them from scratch again connecting one cameras at a time to the router then to the nvr. Now they all work good. One thing i noticed was that the cameras seem to remeber your last connection and it may conflict when the routers are changed. Or it could be that the nvr was getting confused. Never the less once you set then up from scratch to a different omvif compatible nvr, they work. I even get the ptz feature right from the nvr menu. One thing i'm not able to change on the nvr is the recording quality. In the beginning it did let me change them but once i went back to the menu after saving it had reverted it's settings back to default. Now it just says "device not supported for configuring". I'm having some issues with the lifmve feed. When i display 8 channels all at once 2 channels keep blinking on and off. So i went to check the recordings and they are all good. It seems to be an issue with the nvr not being able to display all channels at real time at once. I tried changing the setting on the camera (thru the reolink mobile app) to 1080p when set to clear mode and 720p ( lowest resolution) when in fluent mode and i still don't see any difference on the nvr. So i concluded it is an nvr or a router issue (which i haven't troubleshot yet). . The reolink app couldn't be easier to configure. Once you connect the cameras and the phone to the same router the app recognizes the cameras on the app. Once you click on then it prompts you to create your password and voila! . . Final thoughts is that if younare thinking of investing in a security system with ip cameras with 2mp or higher, get the reolink c2. For a better price you get way more versatility and if the wi-fi signal is weak just connect them with a cat5 cable, either to your router or nvr. It doesn't seem to support poe but the power source is a micro usb port. If you are concern about video loss due tonoower outages just get a passthru battery pack and connect it to the camera. After months of research. This was the best and most affordable indoor camera i could find. Great job reolink. . Ps. I even carry one cameras with me just in case i need remote surveillance: )

I ve compared it against d-link and amcrest and this was the winner for me. . We had a recent package theft and while we had d-link cameras already mounted, the clarity was not good enough to spot the car license plate - which is the only useful detail for the cops. Faces are easy to hide and don t seem to be as helpful. So i spent quite bit of time, researching different cameras and specs to find the best option for us. Having a 3-4mp lens seemed to be a key spec, among all the variations. This is key to spotting license plates and other details from a distance. Pan/tilt would be helpful too. Wifi camera with sd card is another big plus. . Essentially it came down to amcrest and reolink. . Both delivered on time with good packaging etc. Setup was much easier on the reolink than amcrest. For whatever reason, only one of the amcrest would even connect to the network. . The 4mp lens on the reolink is really impressive. I couldn t find another option with that good a lens/optical zoom for this price. I ve included images from the d-link and amcrest for comparison, you can see the massive difference with the reolink when you have the 4mp lens. I ve mounted the c2 at the same spot as the older d-link. The coverage and clarity are a world apart (see images attached for comparison) - especially the details like license plate are really clear, even if its probably 50ft away. . It was fairly easy to find and setup the apps. Nice that they have both windows and mac (usually hard to find for most cams) and both ios and android too. The uid qr code scan helped us get setup quickly. Amcrest has pretty good apps too. But it was a bit annoying to have to have a separate cloud app vs camera app. It should be seamless to pull recordings from the same app as the live view. The cloud apps live view lags. Reolink s app seems to work fine for live and playback. D-link has the worst app. . Slotted in a 64gb card, had to jiggle a bit initially but went in fine. When i mounted the cam, i was a bit concerned about the strength of the mount, since it seems like abs plastic, but the camera seems to be locked into position well, even when i make a bunch of ptz moves, the base seems stable. I ve left it there for over a week and the motion sense highlight areas have not moved, so that means the mount has been fairly stable. . The wifi connection also seems to be really stable, probably because of both antennas. Usually the 2. 4ghz is more stable than the 5. 4ghz, so i went with the 5. 4ghz to test the stability and at all random times, that i ve checked the connection seems to load live view in a jiffy and the logs didn t indicate any disconnects. . The motion alerts are pretty easy and link to playback pretty well. It plays the recordings from the sd card pretty smoothly. If you have it setup just for motion detection, a 64gb card could probably last a month. I do have a request for the reolink apps team. It would be really nice to have the playback of clips, especially for motion only users to be displayed as clips, instead of a timeline. The app does a decent job of jumping to the relevant clip on the timeline, but it would be easier to see a sequence of clips with thumbnail images highlighting the motion activated frame so one can just browse through and pick only interesting clips. . Setting it up with blue iris or ispy and bunch of other apps including cam tv on your apple tv was a breeze, so i can view on the tv anytime or backup the clips to my hard drive. I m planning to setup ftp as well. Update - it s been going well for over a week now, despite cold/wet weather etc.

Received my reolink rlc-410ws earlier this afternoon. I installed it in my backyard looking down and across my lawn. The picture is really crystal clear, compared to some older cameras that i own. I set it up using ispy with motion detection, pc speaker alarm, and recording. I set the resolution at the minimum of 720p, to maximize the frame rate. Tested and everything worked perfectly. This is the connection string that ispy used: rtsp://admin:password 192. 168. 1. 200:554/h264preview 01 main. . I'll be sleeping tonight with my laptop next to my bed, waiting for those armadillos to come around. They have been destroying my new lawn; but tonight i have a surprise waiting for them. The camera works so well, i will probably order a second one to monitor my front lawn.
