Review for headphone case travel bag carrying

Price was $13.99. Love it, this fits my sennheiser hd 598 cs headphones perfectly! the cord needs to be removed first, but that's not a problem, and the cord easily fits inside with the headphones. Tough and protective but lined with velvet to prevent scratching the headphones.

The outside shell is very sturdy, solid, and feels protective. I'm only giving 4 stars though because there is barely any padding inside, and although it is advertised for sennheiser hd 558 headphones, they barely fit inside this case. There isn't even half a millimeter to spare and you have to pull the sides together in order to zip the case up. -B. Lynette

FiiO E10K USB DAC Headphone Amplifier Black

First off: i am not an accomplished audiophile. I don't know all the technical ins/outs of the circuitry. I'm a programmer sitting at a computer all day and mostly have my over-the-ear headphones on all day as we now have an "open office" layout and it is the worst corporate decision any company can make. It makes talkative people beacons of noise, like audio lighthouses. I'm not sure but i think the guy that sits next to me is training his voice and vocal cords to become the loudest speaking human in the united states (i can't speak for other countries). It makes it so hard to concentrate on work. I needed louder input from my headphones so i started looking into these devices. I can tell you that this little device is the bomb! it is well built. It works right after plugging it in. I did have to choose it as my 'default' playback device, that was easy. I'm going to buy the audiotechnica m50x headphones right after christmas but right now i'm using some pretty standart bose over-the-ear headphones. These bose headphones were $100 about 6 years ago, they're not bad but they're not great. The e10k will kick out the volume. I can not turn the volume (gain) knob past 3 or 4 without pain. As tech as i can get i'll tell you the e10k has no added hiss or noise or buzz. It is totally quiet. The sound now is more clear and a little more bass-y with the bass boost 'on'. I mostly listen to talk radio in the morning and 'genre' stations on iheart radio from 10:00 am till the end of the day and the occasional song on youtube. I like it. I would suggest it to a friend.

The fiio e10k usb dac desktop headphone amplifier combines two exquisite technologies into one sturdy piece of equipment. Using the pcm5102 dac chip, the e10k streams audio at a maximum of 96 khz/24-bit.

Fiio E10k Usb Dac Headphone Amplifier Black (Accessory Or Part Or Supply) FAQ.

I've been researching dac/amp combos for a while now, and i wanted something that wouldn't destroy my wallet yet sounded good. The original fiio e10 seemed like the best option, however it was unavailable for purchase for a very long time. . When i found out the e10k was available, i immediately bought it, and i have no regrets. It goes miles ahead of my on-board dac from my motherboard, which had realtek alc898 chipset, which is regarded as one of the better on-board motherboard dac's. Sound is a lot more crisp, you can finally distinguish the mids and all the different instruments playing, and the bass is slightly accentuated with the +3 db bass boost switch (i use it, and i prefer it over no bass-boost). It brings my ath-m50's back to life! . . I would agree with other reviewers here that the e10k that the sound is warm overall, yet crisp. . It comes in a very small package, and it is rather light weight. However the build quality on this little thing is amazing! it feels super sturdy, and the volume knob has the right amount of resistance to it, and feels solid. . One slight problem that i have with it is that the included micro-usb cable is too short for my use (desktop pc), so i have to buy a longer micro-usb for decent cable management. But it still doesn't take away from the fact that this is the best bang-for-your-buck dac/amp combo. -Notice from I. Kelly, Kensington and Chelsea

As an fps gamer, i spent a couple weeks researching ways to improve positional audio. A couple weeks of research pointed me towards pairing the fiio e10k with audio technica ath-ad700x. Research ftw. These two products are a match made in gamer heaven. . The e10k provides clean, ambient sound with no hiss. The mild bass boost gives you a bit fuller sound without muddying. The unit is compact, feels solid, and looks nice, and, of course, costs under $100usd. . When i logged in to overwatch, i was stunned to hear the rain on the halloween-themed main screen. It sounded like i was standing outside in a light rain storm. Drops of water could be clearly heard falling all around, at different distances and intensities. In game, i was able to hear genji coming for our healers ever time, and it was pretty clear which hallway he was in, just by the sound. . If you want exceptional positional audio in your games, consider the same pairing i got. It makes for an intense upgrade.

- Y. MeredithPros. - sound quality is significantly better than your laptop's dac, specifically my mid 2012 retina macbook pro (rmbp). Flac & tidal 1, 411 kbps streaming both sound wonderful with wider atmosphere, roomier stage, and noticeably improved detail. - brushed black metal looks great. Happy that chinese companies are finally throwing down good design, as fiio products have a clean, distinct look. - inexpensive. - compact. It's about 1. 5x larger than a zippo lighter. - volume knob is satisfying to turn and provides a good amount of resistance. - bus powered. - coax and line out are nice additions. . Cons. - bass boost feature is poorly executed and essentially useless. The hz range boosted, which i believe is around 100 300 hz, is too high which creates a significantly muddy effect. They should have limited it to 10 100 hz or made it configurable. I can understand why at this price-point, fiio cannot afford to provide complex firmware editing software, though. At the end of the day though, most buyers purchase this product with the intent of listening to lossless audio, such as flac/tidal, i have no idea why they would add a bass boost feature besides to appeal to the youngsters or to help drive headphones with 150 Ω impedance and not sound too bright / tinny. - 3. 5mm jack is either convenient or a burden, depending on who you talk to. - recommended headphone impedance 60 150 Ω, thus it can only properly drive small to medium sized cans. I have a pair of sennheiser hd 650's which have an impedance of 300 Ω and not only is this dac/amp underpowered, it also requires a 1/4 adapter. If you have a pair of quality compact to mid-size headphones, though. You're all good. The sound quality is fantastic on my bose qc 15's.

Ive used my v-moda crossfade m100s for about 2 years now. Using them on my pc. The sound was great but i kept hearing about the bass these could pump out and i wasnt getting it. After some researching, i learned an amp wasnt necessary while others said it would help. I bought this little puppy and wow, it blew me away. Suddenly my headphones made me feel like i was in a concert hall and the bass i was looking for appeared. Now my cans physically vibrate like crazy on my ears while delivering the sound i had read about. . Easy install, incredibly simple to use, and great quality material, sturdy and light while looking like a piece of tech 3x its price. Before buying i was worried the setup sounded too simple to be true. It was literally. 1. Hook micro usb power adapter to back of amp. 2. Hook usb to pc/laptop. 3. Let the drivers/software update itself to your pc. 4. Plug your headphones/speakers in the front of amp. 5. Went to "manage audio devices" in windows. 6. Find the "fiio usb dac-e10". 7. "set default". 8. Enjoy. . Hope this review relieves some of the worries i had before purchasing for myself. Wouldnt bother using this amp with sub-$80 phones, i doubt the drivers are even there to run anything of use unless you want your can really loud!

Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra Thermal Paste Compound Grease CPU Processor Heatsink

The coollaboratory liquid ultra was optimized for highest performance and optimal usability. The thermal compound consists to 100% of metal, but can be applied very easy with a commercial brush. The processor (heatspreader) should be cleaned thoroughly before apply the liquid ultra, in order to eliminate dirt, old thermal compound or fat. Depending on the size of the heatspreader, three to four division lines of liquid ultra should be applied centrically on the heatspreader. Then the liquid ultra should be disposed slowly and without pressure on the heatspreader. The less pressure is used when elapsing, the easier the liquid ultra can be applied. The liquid ultra has a pasty form, whereby the application goes very fast. Please pay attention to coat also the edges of the heatspreaders. Therefore always use the same brush side. It is usually not necessary to apply more liquid ultra again for a commercial processor.

Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - Black

I waited half a year to write this review so that i could really get a good feel of these headphones. The sound quality is really sharp and crystal clear, don't get me wrong, but the bass isn't very punchy. At all. I knew that coming into it, but if you're looking at listening to basically anything other than acoustics, acapella, or classical, then these are not the best option. Also, the equalizer that came with my phone, a galaxy s6 edge, doesn't really match their dynamics. I have to fiddle with the levels for several minutes and then blast the volume to get them to reach even close to their potential or just settle with particularly dull and overemphasized notes. And they definitely aren't sound canceling or portable. I bought a solid case for them for the rare few times i do try to take them out. They're wonderful for just sitting at home, listening to some music, and perhaps doing some writing or online work. But, i am a busy full time student with a part time job. I hardly ever get time for that. They're more of a lifestyle headphone than people give them credit for. Really evaluate yourself before taking the plunge to see if you really are the kind of person that needs sennheiser hd 598s. If you do think these headphones are a good match for you, then wonderful. They really are everything they're talked up to be. All in all, my sennheisers have been a blessing. I really wish they had the black version back when i had bought them, though!

The hd 598 special edition headphones are an open back, over ear, audiophile grade headphone that combines exceptional sound quality with extreme wearing comfort. This premium headphone features a padded leatherette headband and luxurious velour covered ear pads perfect for long listening sessions.

Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - BlackSennheiser-HD-598-Over-Ear-Headphones

Sennheiser Hd 598 Special Edition Over-ear Headphones - Black (HD 598 SE) FAQ.

There are thousands of good and thorough reviews already, so i won't go much into details, lest it's redundant. So, i'm just gonna compare 2 of these headphones that i have. . Sony v6 vs. Sennheiser hd598 (closed vs. Open-back): i have both (picture shown below) and did a thorough comparison and found that i liked the sony's sound quality a little more. They both sounded great, but i preferred the crisper soundstage of the v6. That's not to say the hd598's soundstage is not crisp, because it is crisp and lively (as should be with open-back). However, i just found the v6 to be a tiny bit crisper and more powerful. I used the same amp and source for both. Overall, both are great-sounding headphones! btw, i also own a pair of the hd800. :). . In the end, neither of those pairs are very portable and convenient because the sony has a very long and non-detachable cord, which defeats the purpose of portability since one would have to drag the long cord around, and the hd598 is an open-back, which means everybody surrounding you would hear your music, and that's not a very private thing (most people do not! want to hear your music, so keep it to yourself! ). Moreover, these headphones require a portable amp to truly bring out their potentials (without an amp, they are at a huge disadvantage - 64 ohms for the v6 and 50 ohms for the hd598). They'd sound good without an amp, but they'd sound great with an amp or dac. . The end! :d -Notice from U. Morgan, Rhone-Alpes

I remember ogling at the hd 598 three years ago but ended up settling for the hd518 due to the former's high price of 300 usd. Now that the price is down, i can finally purchase one for myself. Let's get down to my experience with it. . Excellent audio and comfort. The bass is tight and present (makes your head feel a pleasant sensation during bass heavy sections), the mids are clear as day, and the highs are detailed but not tiring. In other words, the separation is bar none one of the best out there. I guarantee you that you can listen to music in this head set for hours without fatigue. Sound leak is there, but this is to be expected from a open headphone. What is surprising is that it's not as severe as i expect it to be. I can crank it up to adequate sound levels and those walking beside me wouldn't even notice the music i'm listening to. . This headset produces a comfortable sound that fits all genres of music. Whatever you're listening to, you'll have a great experience with this headset. Recommended fully 120%. . P. S. I got this for 130 usd on online store last week as there is a "limited time offer" going on. I just couldn't pass the chance on.

Sennheiser-hd-598-special-edition-over-ear-headphones---black-(hd-598-se) set picture

- E. AlexiaSound quality is decent. Very comfortable. Looks nice. . I went to the sennheiser page to authenticate my black friday deal headphones and went through the process. . Verdict: at least mine are authentic. Don't let some reviews discourage you from your new headphones! . . My only downside is they don't sound as good as i originally believed they would. . Update: 6/5/16. My ears have gotten used to this great sound quality, and i can safely say that it just takes a while to get used to these headphones. Still holding up months later perfectly and 100% comfortable still. These are some lifelong pc headphones that will not disappoint you! . . If you can get these for under 100 dollars, don't even contemplate, just buy it!

I bought these headphones during online store's ridiculous black friday flash sale where i was able to nab a pair for a cool $99. 99. For that price it is an absolute steal. If you are new to the open back headphone scene then these are an excellent starting pair to get yourself accustomed to the different sound signature they offer. I am coming from audio technica's ath-m50 closed back headphones and boy can i tell the difference! . . Before i delve into the nitty gritty parts of this review let me first say that headphones are subjective. If you like bass heavy headphones (e. G. Beats by dre) that vibrate on your head then these are not for you. Now that that's out of the way let's continue. The 598s have a higher 50 ohm impedance compared to the norm of 32 ohms so you might have trouble getting the volume you want out of certain devices. This can be easily overcome with an amplifier. I'm using an aune t1 tube dac/amp combo to drive the 598s since i prefer a warmer sound. . I would say the biggest difference between the m50s and 598s is the soundstage. Now if you're unfamiliar with the term 'soundstage' all it really refers to is the headphone's ability to reproduce sound in a way that tricks your ears into perceiving the music is coming from all around you. Rather than being confined to the space in between your ears and the closed back of the m50s the 598's open back design allows sound to penetrate the back of the headphones which in turn creates a more 'open' soundstage. For me, it opened my eyes to an entirely new listening experience. These things do leak sound (which they're designed to do) so if that is something you're trying to avoid then these won't work for you. . In terms of comfort, the 598s take it by a long shot. I was never able to wear the m50s for longer than 2-3 hours before my ears started to ache. The 598s for one have velour ear pads which help a lot and they don't clamp onto your head nearly as firmly as the m50s do. I feel like i could wear these all day without even noticing they're there. . Bottom line, if you are looking to venture into open back headphones the sennheiser hd 598s offer a value you won't get out of anything else.

Sennheiser HD 598 Cs Closed Back Headphone

Sennheiser has truly created something special here. It just goes to show how far headphone technology has come that you don t need to spend hundreds on headphones, dacs, and amps, to get great sound. . Although these are a great value for $99 and even $150, i think there are areas where sennheiser could improve the sound quality. As a point of reference, i currently own the philips fidelio x2, sennheiser momentum 2. 0 (which are being replaced by these), and previously owned the sennheiser hd 600 and hd 598 se. . The build of the hd598cs is all plastic and an unusual feeling velour/pleather material on the earpads and on the outside of the earcups. The plastic is high quality though and has a good feel in the hand so i m not complaining. The headband has a good amount of cushion but does put more pressure on the top of my head than the hd598se. Overall, i think the hd598cs are one of the most comfortable closed-back headphones. . Let me begin by saying that these are not audiophile headphones. Anyone who buys these expecting extreme detail and resolution will be disappointed. The hd598cs provide a relaxed, yet balanced sound. There is absolutely nothing obtrusive about the sound. You can pump these at high volume and you won t find a song that has piercing highs or disturbing lows. If anything, the mids are a bit forward making vocals very pleasant. Another thing i noticed was the soundstage, which is quite big for closed back headphones. I d say the soundstage is close to that of the hd 598 se (which are open-back). That s an impressive accomplishment by sennheiser. . The hd598cs also have good spatial resolution (or imaging). When listening to good recordings, you can tell where vocals and different instrument are positioned. Again, props to sennheiser on accomplishing this in a closed-back, $99 headphone. . However, the reason i said these are not audiophile headphones is because the hd598cs lack frequency separation. The bass leaks into the mids and mids leak into highs. Some might say this makes them sound muddy , whereas i describe the sound as relaxed. It s pleasant to listen to and for someone who hasn t heard hifi headphones, it will be amazing. However, for me, it was a bit distracting particularly in classical music. For instance, in a piano concerto, during a cadenza, i expect to hear the bassists, cellist, and drums in the low end; brass and woodwinds in the mids; violas and violins in the highs, and piano throughout these ranges. With the hd598cs, the bass frequencies heavily bleed into the mids so it sounds like a loud smear of frequencies. This isn t a deal breaker for me because i have the philips x2s, which is one of the best at instrument separation, but if someone is looking for a single all-around headphone, this is not the one. The hd598cs does many other things right and i loved listening to jazz, rock, r&b, hip hop, dance, and soundtrack music in them. . I m keeping these because at $99, the hd598cs are a steal and are still worth it at $150. They fixed all the issues i encountered with the hd598se. With the open-back version, the highs were piercing and lows were abysmal. In my opinion, the hd598cs are better than the hd598se although some might say otherwise. Also, the hd598cs do sound better than the momentum 2. 0 (wired); the hd598cs have a bigger soundstage, better imaging, and the same clarity. Obviously, the momentum 2. 0 are more portable but that s not a concern of mine. . So, if you re looking for a fantastic sounding, closed-back, comfortable headphone, the hd598cs are the ones to get.

The hd 598 cs headphones are a closed back, over ear, audiophile grade headphone combining exceptional sound quality with extreme wearing comfort. This premium headphone features a padded leatherette headband and luxurious velour covered ear pads perfect for long listening sessions.

Sennheiser Hd 598 Cs Closed Back Headphone (Headphones) FAQ.

Released only a couple months ago, the $199 sennheiser's hd 598 cs are the long-awaited closed-back version of the ever-popular hd 598 and hd 598 se, both being open-back headphones. The differences don't end there either, as you will find out below. But the cs does continue the high quality set by the original ivory-colored 598, and that's important to this review. The original 598 were my first pair of premium headphones, but issues with comfort led to my returning them only weeks after i'd bought them. It wasn't until my third pair of premium headphones (the second being the god-awful and very overrated audio technica m50x), the akg k550, that i'd finally found headphones that hit the mark! still, my growing desire for portability and convenience led me to try other out other headphones over the last 2 years, and that ended with me getting the $299 bang & olufsen 2nd generation h6 'phones only about 2 months ago (the h6s came out in january, while the cs came out in september). But after doing some research on the cs, i decided they were worthy of a trial vs. My h6s. . I gave the cs headphones roughly a 24 hour burn-in time over 2-3 days. I then spent 3 separate listening sessions with both them and my h6s. I listened to my usual mix of hard & soft rock music. Let's review all aspects of what i'd observed. . Looks/design: the h6s have a great sleek look about them. Very high-class in terms of the parts they consist of. The headband is made of cow leather, the frame of aluminum, the ear cups of sheep leather, and ear cup "shell" of anodized aluminum, to keep it from rusting and retain it's shine for years to come. B&o truly went all out on the look & design here. The headphones are easily adjustable, and feature removable ear cups. The cs headphones looks are less extravagant, but still quite classy. The headband is made of padded leatherette and the ear cups of a very soft velour material (also replaceable! )l. The frame appears to be comprised of a very nice-looking high quality plastic with a "hint" of metal here and there, including on the ear cup shells. I think both headphones look great, but i will give this one to b&o. The h6 is a $100 more, so it'd be wrong of them to have a more plastic frame. . Comfort: i originally stated i found the h6s to be quite comfortable. Unfortunately, over time i realized this wasn't actually so true. The h6s are listed as over-ear headphones, but imo, they barely fit into that category, much like how my ears barely fit into their ear cups. Sure, they do fit, if i adjust the ear cups enough, but over time and especially on my left ear, it felt similar to wearing a shoe that was apparently a half size too small on you. I don't have big ears either, so i don't know why this was an issue. It wasn't obvious at first, but even after stretching out the headband to relieve some of the pressure from the ear cups, i still felt it. . However, with the cs, i did not have this issue at all thanks to the very spacious ear cups on those headphones. My ears had plenty of room, and that actually played into the sound quality too (more on the below). It's ironic because again with the original 598, my big issue with them was comfort. The headband was different. It had a more ribbed design to it, where the cs' headband is smooth from left to right. I don't know if sennheiser made the cs' grip less tight or not, but that's very possible. When i got the 598 se (which have the exact same design as the 598) earlier this year to try out, i discovered that if i simply angle the top of the ear cups inward that the pressure that used to annoy me would disappear. But open-back headphones are not for me because i travel at times etc with headphones, so i did not keep them either (but it was cool to try them out). I also noticed that if i momentarily put the volume way up, that they'd distort a bit, where my akg k553 (same sound as the k550) did not (and neither do the cs). Anyway, the comfort issues from those 2 headphones were non-existent. The smooth headband (vs. The ribbed one) meant no more feeling like the headband was "pointing" into my skull. And the apparent decrease in grip/tightness also played into it too. Vs. The h6 (as well as the 598 & 598 se), the 598 cs headphones are ultra comfortable imho! i have fell asleep with these on, even when i decided to wear my glasses vs. Contacts. They are that comfortable! . . Instrument separation & clarity: i've never really had an instrument separation category listed before in my reviews, but i decided it was important to now. Even more so because the instrument sound separation of the cs has been criticized on head-fi already by one member. To test this out, i listened to a few different hi-res led zeppelin tracks with multiple guitars playing on them. On songs like babe i'm gonna leave you and your time is gonna come, as well as that's the way and tangerine, the cs' more spacious ear cups gave me a more satisfying listening experience than the h6s ever could. I believe that because the cs' earcups are more spacious, they may give the "impression" that there's less separation, but if you listen, it's there! i could easily tell apart the various instruments and vocals (of course part of that was because of the high quality of these tracks to begin with), and again, the extra space allowed for the music to breathe more freely, and so i could really hear echos and things for a short but sustained period of time vs. Missing out on them completely. . No clarity was lost on the cs that i could detect, and the same goes for the h6. Since the cs has a higher sensitivity (115 dbs vs. 97 dbs) and a lower impedance (23 ohms vs. 30 ohms) than the h6s do, they also are louder with less volume, and that plays into it as well. (as long as you have good ampage though, that really doesn't matter, but it does take more effort to turn up that volume dial for the h6s lol). . Bass: both headphones performed about the same here. Which was incredibly well! they both had a great bass "punch" to their sound, only sounding a bit "too bassy" on just the most bassiest of tracks. But like my comparison of the 2nd gen h6 vs. The akg k550 mk ii (k550 mk ii also having the same sound as the k550), the bass on the cs was just as tight & refined as the h6s. So even though a very small of tracks sounded bassy, the overwhelming majority of songs that i used to have to enable the "bass boost" feature on my oppo ha-2 for no longer require that. The ones that do. I just assign a custom-made eq preset i'd created to them which poweramp lets me do, and they're all set! as much as i prefer less bassier headphones, i learned with the h6s that a "touch" of bass above what the k550s offer is in most cases a good thing. The problem is most headphones i've tried were simply too bassy on all tracks and although i have no issues eq'ing down the bass, i do however have issues with raising the treble. In the past using presets like "rock" on my poweramp app resulted in many songs "popping" or making funny random noises when using presets like that where the treble was raised above 0. So that's why about a year ago i came to realization that simply leaving the eq on "flat" made for a well-balanced, natural sound. With exception to the really bassy tracks, my default eq is "flat". (even my custom-made eq with the lowered bass that i use on those few bassy tracks still leaves the mids and highs in "flat" position. ). . Mids: excellent on both! no "v-shaped" garbage with the recessed mids on either. . Highs: also excellent on both! any detail lost was noticed only on the "very bassy" songs, and that again was quickly resolved after applying my custom eq to those particular tracks. . Soundstage: the soundstage of both headphones is fantastic! i can't really say that one excels over the other here. . Misc: both headphones come with a detachable cable, something my k550 mk ii headphones were lacking. Both headphones had the option to purchase an upgrade (proprietary) cable, but the circumstances were different for both. For the h6, the upgrade cable was necessary only because the stock cable was just awful! maybe mine was just defective, but you could only get sound out of both ear cups if you held the cable connector in place. So it was more necessary to buy. For the cs, i only got the 1. 2m replacement audio upgrade cable for sennheiser hd598 hd558 hd518 headphones b/c the 2 that come with it weren't up to par for me. One was too long (10') and had a 6. 3mm fixed connector where i needed a 3. 5mm one, and the other was just the right length (about 4') but had an in-line remote with it, which i've been told on here by multiple people can introduce a mild amount of distortion into the music. So both headphones are quite portable, which is awesome! i only wish you didn't have to buy the cables braided. I prefer regular/non-braided, but whatever. . Verdict: when it comes to headphones, you never really know what to expect. As sure as you might be that what you have can never be outdone without paying an obscene amount of money, sometimes things go the other way. This is what happened with the cs. For $100 less than the h6s, i got a pair of quality brand name headphones that not only let me enjoy a more spacious sound signature, but also greater comfort than what the h6s could offer up. The h6s do look somewhat nicer, but these are headphones. The main point of buying them is to hear and enjoy music, not show off your new toy to people. The cs headphones still look great and they do stand out in a way that even b&o's headphones don't. I think it's the oval-shaped ear cups (and pads) that really help separate them from all the rest. Most if not all other headphones have either a circular or rectangular shape to their ear cups, but sennheiser's decision to go with the oval-shaped ones gives the 598 series headphones their own unique identity & look in the headphone arena, and that's never a bad thing! (just ask blue! lol). . So with all that being said, i'm officially selling off my h6s after a 2-month run and keeping the cs headphones in their place! i am thrilled sennheiser released these headphones and that they wisely made the physical modification necessary to make the 598 cs not only clearly the most comfortable headphones of the 598 series, but arguably, the most comfortable ones i've ever tried (even as good if not better than the akg k550's)! -Notice from J. Background: for almost two years i've been listening to music with audio technica's stellar mth-m50xs. Those cans are well known for being some of the best 'audiophile' grade headphones at their price point (around $150 usd). With this year's great black friday sale i decided to expand my collection. . With my current setup i am using no amp, 320kbps audio files, alternating between my pc and samsung s7 edge (known for it's great on-board dac) and these headphones. . Review:. . Build quality (4/5): while these are build well, they seem tacky/plasticky. Compared to the m50xs, the extensible band is made out of plastic, the cups don't swivel (they have like 25% of the range of motion of the m50s), and they aren't collapsible. They look sleek, but feel somewhat fragile in the hand and construction materials used. . Comfort (5/5): damn these things are comfy, if a bit heavy which is a bit funny given the m50s are half an ounce heavier. The pads feel luxurious and soft. They fully envelop your ears and sit comfortably on the top of your head. The clamping force keeps them snug to your skull without headache-inducing pressure. Compared to the m50xs i could wear these all day. Sennheiser is known for their comfort and these certainly don't disappoint. . Sound: i'm going to be breaking this part up into several important parts. . -bass/lows (4. 5): compared to the m50xs these lack a certain kind of 'punchiness. ' it's all there, but there's a lot less thud on the kicks and hits in the music. This isn't necessarily bad, it just means it has a flatter eq curve than the m50xs. In fact, the hd 598s technically produce a sound truer to the artist's intent because they have a significantly larger frequency response. However, if you primarily listen to rap, edm, or anything with heavy-hitting bass you'll notice a lot less 'oomph. ' this happens to suit my tastes for a lot of music i listen too, and if i want bass i can always swap what cans i am using. . -mids (4/5): on both the m50s and the hd 598s they mids are a little recessed. This is partly due to the fact they are close-backed cans, which makes it hard for those notes to 'find their place' in the 'soundstage. ' a lack of clarity (compared to the bass and highs) means the instruments sound a little muddy. Try listening to stairway to heaven. Regardless given their more even eq curve i am picking up details in my music that the m50xs couldn't reproduce if those details are a bit muffled. . -highs (5/5): in my opinion this is where the hd 598s excel. The strings in classical music sing to you. I can't say much more to describe how much i love listening to classical and similarly composed music on these. . -vocals (4/5): voices are warm, if slightly muddy. Where deeper, they suffer the same problem as the mids. It's as if they were using a wool sock for a filter between their lips and the mic. . -overall sound (4. 75/5) : while i focused primarily on the negatives of each part, when it all comes together these are actually a very good set of headphones. The signature is somewhat warm, though with clear and distinct highs that really pop. Their greater response and flatter eq curve means i am listening something closer to what the artists intended than on my m50xs. I'm picking up details that i couldn't with the m50xs less balanced sound. . All in all, while i am still getting used to the differences between these and the m50xs, i find the hd 598s are definite upgrade for the kind of music i generally listen too, especially at the price i got them for ($100). They're accurate, balanced, and warm, if a bit muddy in the mids. You can't beat their comfort and sound at this price, but if you want more bass go for the m50xs. 4. 5 stars out of 5.

- N. MathisI come from the hd 429s's and wont pretend to be an audiphile or anything of the sort. I do have a good ear, and have tried, while not owned, beats, shure's, bose's (love the clarity of the sound but they are not well balanced or as comfortable as these), and have to say that out of those, my hd 598cs's are my favorite. . The headphones are extremely comfortable, and while they do apply a certain amount of pressure on your head when you pull them closer (gives a better seal), it's something that distracts from the listening experience or makes you want to pull them off. . The sound. Its great, i can hear pianos i never heard with my hd 429s, or any other headphone i've owned, and i talking about songs that i've been listening to for years. The bass thumps, it has the perfect amount of bass to remind you that certain songs have that bounce i love (i mostly listen to hop hop), but its a natural bass, nothing exaggerated as is the case with the beats. Voices are crisp, clear and seem to be coming directly at you, and i love the way the sound is directed inside your ear, it envolves you, and the isolation is awesome for headphones that have no active sound isolation mechanism. . The earpads and super comfortable, dont get hot, and cover my entire ear, so its a pleasure to put them on and lay in bed with my head on the pillow. I have never been able to say this about any headphone, owned or borrowed. So that alone earns these a star. . Just fyi, if you push the headphones forward when you have them on, sound will be affected, the bass is lost and so is the seal. So always try to keep them from the middle of your head pushed to the back. . All in all, i love the sound signature, the way sennheiser chooses to represent the sound as close to the real thing as possible and the comfort these provide. To me, their only flaw is the cheap looking cable, thats my only gripe, otherwise, these would look like 200 usd headphones (got them on black friday)

I've lived with these for one whole day, and i am beyond impressed! these have the most detailed sound of any headphones i have ever owned, and that includes my etymotic micropro er 4pt in ear earphones. And these haven't even begun the 'burn in' period yet. Some of the reviews i am reading here point out deficiencies that i cannot hear. Diminished mids, rolled off highs, etc. I have been listening to a number of my flac files, and they sound incredible. The slightest ting on a cymbal to the deep bass sounds of a standup bass are articulated perfectly. Vocals in the mid range are 'in your face' real. The sound of fingers sliding on guitar strings are perfectly recreated so you feel that it is live. Because you are isolated, the music is allowed to move you emotionally. Even my m4a music files sound great. I have been involved with high end music for many years, and i realize you can spend well over a thousand dollars for headphones. But there is a point where sound can become more esoteric than most people can appreciate. This is where the amount of improvement is minimal to the amount of money being spent. These phones will give you a music experience that is far beyond the asking price.

Sennheiser HD 598 Over-Ear Headphones - Ivory

They'd sound good without an amp, but they'd sound great with an amp or dac. . The end! :d

The hd 598 headphones are open back, over ear, audiophile grade headphones that combine exceptional sound and comfort. They feature luxurious velour covered ear pads and stylish burl wood parts for a premium finish.

Sennheiser Hd 598 Over-ear Headphones - Ivory (504633) FAQ.

Look, i know you are reading this because you are on the fence if you should buy these, or buy something else like the hd 558, grados or even some bose or beats! . . Where do i start? if this will be your first open back headphone, listen up! this is my first open back headphone, i came from mainstream headphones like bose and beats, so this should give you a good idea of what i will be comparing to. . Sound (10/10). Ok, so first off, people are saying the bass is lacking, i'm not sure where people are getting this from, the bass is *exquisite* it's smooth and tight, by this it means that it won't distort the rest of the song, it's very relaxing and has the perfect amount. Don't believe me? listen to "better together" by jack johnson, you will hear the bass playing in the back, hitting incredible lows. If you are looking for just bass, you won't find it here, but trust me, you don't want that, you want the smooth bass that these headphones offer because it will let you hear the clarity in the song. . Now, let me talk about what the "open" portion of the headphone does. Imagine for a second, standing in the middle of 5 speakers, and you being able to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. That's the magic of these headphones, you hear where the individual instruments are coming from, you can focus on a single instrument and follow it throughout the whole song, that's how clear these babies are. Listen to "in the twilight" by phaeleh and close your eyes, it sounds like the singer's head is floating around you like a helicopter and singing! i actually had my eyes closed and was tracing my finger in the air, when my girlfriend walks in, she thought i was crazy, but who cares! . . Another thing which i love about the sound is that you will be able to hear whispers and other small instruments in songs that you didn't know were there. It will forever change the song for you, trust me. . 10/10 for sound, no contest. I can't even imagine what the upper end sennheisers sound like! . . Build quality (9. 5/10). Before you get worried, the only reason i took . 5 off was because initially, sennheiser had an issue with the quality of the material used on the side of the headphones, leading to small (cosmetic) cracks, however, this issue is now fixed! otherwise, they are a 10/10 for build quality. Very sturdy feeling, but lightweight at the same time. It nails that fine balance between weight and the feeling of something substantial. You will not be disappointed. . Appearance and comfort (10/10). Guys, prepare for an onslaught of ladies at your doorstep, these things look like the inside of something like a bentley. Ladies, prepare to meet your future husband while wearing these. . Looks are subjective of course, but i feel like they look extremely premium and i definitely get a lot of complements on them whenever i show them to friends. . As for comfort, you can wear these for hours and hours, and you will forget they are on your head. The don't clamp tightly at all, but are just right to where they don't fall off. Actually, these are the most comfortable headphones i've ever worn, beats can't even touch this. . Some important notes:. -these are the "highest end" open back sennheiser headphones you can buy without needing an amp. This is very important! any step up from this will require amplification to sound good. These work just fine with your smartphone, tablet or portable device. I highly recommend trying this with a computer, as computers will usually have a higher quality sound card compared to phones and tablets, try it out. . -since they are open back, they leak sound. These aren't great for traveling, but believe me, this trade-off is worth it. You will not find a closed back headphone that offers the "surround" effect that open backs do, it's simply how they work. I think these could work inside an office if you keep the volume down. . -make sure you use them and "burn them in. " when you first get them, they will sound amazing right out of the box, but over the course of the next few weeks, it's like the headphone will keep getting better and better! . . Comparisions with other headphones. . Hd 598 vs hd 558. People say that the lower tier model, the hd 558, sounds the same as this if you remove the little foam piece inside the ear cups. Believe me, i tried this with my friend's pair and played several songs; the 558 sounds muddy and isn't as clear. Do yourself a favor and get these, you will not be disappointed. . Hd 598 vs bose ae2. These win by a long shot. Bose does offer more bass, and are good for travel, however, they felt cheaply built to me compared to these. Bose would be my number 3 pick after hd 598 and vmoda. . Hd 598 vs beats by dr. Dre (various models). I'm a little biased here, but to me beats just sounds like a giant thump with every note. That's cool for the first hour or so, but then you will get tired of the constant thumping inside your head. The 598s offer smooth bass while allowing you to hear the lyrics and instruments with great clarity; the beats do not. Please do not get these; it's all marketing! . . Hd 598 vs v moda corssfade lp. The vmoda's are probably the closest competitor. They are great headphones, but are closed back, and i felt like the sound didn't quite hit the hd 598's fidelity. However, they are great headphones in themselves, and if you want sound isolation, go for the vmoda's. However, if you want the huge soundstage and clarity, the hd 598 is your headphone. . I think i've rambled enough about these. I'm going to go put them on and cry because the music is too damn beautiful. Buy them. They are impeccable. . Edit (feb 9 2015): i have recently discovered something that will allow you to truly experience these headphones. I'm in no way affiliated with these companies, but it's called tidalhifi (in the us and uk) and wimp everywhere else. Here are the links: and http://about. Wimpmusic. Com/wweb/index/. . These services will stream lossless music, which is almost 4 times the fidelity of most other streaming services. You can try it out for free and see if you like it; i found that it brought out the sound stage even more for me, and i'm just doing the free trial for now. Hope this helps! -Notice from X.

Sennheiser-hd-598-over-ear-headphones---ivory-(504633) set picture

- H. PowellMy first high-end headphone was a sennheiser hd 595, which i paid over $300 for. I've used that for over a decade and still works and impresses me, apart from the cosmetics being worn down from a lot of use over the years. The 598 basically gives the same natural sound, concert feeling audio that i felt with my 595. . Last year, the ivory color of this 598 was the black friday sale, and it was a no brainer absolute steal purchase! this year, the "special edition" black version is on sale for the ridiculous bargain price, i just had to grab another one. . I also own the sennheiser 600, but that model and higher requires an amp. With the 598, you do not need an amp to enjoy it. . It will bring a whole new life to your music collection and be enjoying the same music you've listen to hundreds time with a fresh new experience, being able to clearly hear the vocals and individual instruments and depth - a concert feeling; not a confined claustrophobic, everything muffled together mess. No matter what genre you listen to, it should make you feel like you are in a concert hall. It is like having a portable surround sound system on your head. Poor audio speakers can make the listening experience a chore or exhaustive after a few minutes; i can listen to music i normally wouldn't listen to or my favorite songs for longer periods because there's so much audio satisfaction with these, just being able to appreciate the little instrumental details and directions. . The only negative is that sound will leak because these are open headphones for a more natural sound that you will even forget you are wearing headphones; so probably not a good idea to listen to britney spears in public. ; ). . If you can appreciate sound, this is a no brainer purchase, especially if you never owned higher quality headphones; your wallet and ears will be satisfied. The design also looks professional and not juvenile. I'm still blown away by the sounds these headphones are capable of producing. Headphones usually require break-in periods and these will just sound better and better over the years. . If you are having trouble removing the cord from the headphones, make sure you twist first then pull; i had trouble first pulling it out and it turns out you need to twist to lock/unlock the cord before removing it.

Case is solid on the outside, silky on the inside. It fits my sennheiser 598 cs well, if snugly. (i need to contract the headband completely for them to comfortably fit inside the case. )

I have no idea why this case has no reviews yet - it's extremely nice, especially for the price. The interior is a soft silk, and the case as a whole feels very sturdy. I have no worries about my sennheiser 598c. I see no reason to get a more expensive case over this one.

V. Anonymous, Ile-de-France

A pretty sturdy case. The inside is big enough to hold my hd 598 with its original cable (2. 5m to quarter inch with adapter). I am pretty sure that this can also hold my set of ath m50. Has a odd manufacturing smell, however i am sure it will leave after some time.

M. Kelly, Rheinland-Pfalz says

Made pretty well and does what i expected it to which is protect my headphones.
