Fitbit Aria Wi-fi Smart Scale, Black (FB201B) 2072

Review for fitbit wi fi smart scale black

Price was $128.47. Generally, i like this scale. It is easy to step on with bare feet and it reads my weight, recognizes that it is me, provides the body fat % and uploads the weight to fitbit. Com. I have added functionality with ifttt actions such as adding the weight to a google sheet automatically. I found that the placement of the scale is key - at my previous home (an apartment), it varied greatly due to the uneven floor in the bathroom. This was not the scale's fault - just proved how uneven the floor was. Now that it sit on a hardwood floor, the readings are consistent. With my fitbit charge 2, i get a better overall view of my health. . I have a black aria that eventually developed connectivity issues. The kind folks at fitbit replaced the scale and this one works perfectly - great customer service!

I'm going to be straight up with you. . I'm a self proclaimed techie. This was hard to set up. However, if you try try again young one, you will get it going. . Once its running, no issues whatsoever. Every morning, i step on it. Every morning, without fail, it tells me i'm fat. . Success. -N. There are a few ways to do it and this one is easier not using the app on your phone. If you do use your phone delete any wifi networks at home first. I used a laptop. I disconnected from my home wifi and found the aria wifi signal. I connected to that. After about 30 seconds it guides you on the screen what to do. I did not download anything. That is the 3rd option and just doesn't seem necessary. After you are done setting it up it will tell you to connect to your home wifi again. I had it setup in a total of 5 min. Don't need to download anything."

Fitbit Surge Fitness Superwatch, Black, Large

4. 5/5 stars! . . Overall the fitbit surge has met or exceeded most of my expectations. It's not perfect, but very few things in life are. It's simple, but provides a wealth of data and feedback automatically. It was about as close to "plug and play" as you can get. I did the initial setup with my iphone and it's had no issue connecting and syncing. There are plenty of very detailed reviews and overviews out there, so i will steer away from that and give you my likes and dislikes. . Like:. . -looks: sharp, clean lines and not too big. The watch face is on the thicker side and does interfere with long sleeves but overall it looks (and feels) great. I've had many compliments on it in the last week that i've had it. -battery life: solid. I have used the gps function for my workouts which does burn up the battery much faster (5 hours gps battery life i believe) but for normal wear i have found the battery life to be more than acceptable. I did turn off "all-day sync" per a suggestion i read online for what that's worth. -tracking: generally does everything you would expect (hr being the exception, noted below). Being able to see so many metrics tracked on a daily basis is great and allows for detailed comparison day over day/week over week, etc. -functionality: interface is clean and simple. Maybe overly simple in some cases but it gets the job done and tells you what you need to know. While it's not a smart watch per se, i do like the ability to get text and call notifications on the watch. It would be nice to add a little more on that front but all in all it's pretty good. It's a fitness watch and not a smart watch, so it's hard to complain about it not having a lot of smart watch functions. -gps: so far it works great in my experience. I saw a lot of complaints about it taking several minutes for gps to lock but so far it's never taken more than a few seconds to acquire a gps signal. I do live in a suburban area and i'm sure that has a lot to do with it. Gps is also very accurate when mapped and the breakout of data on the fitbit website is pretty nice. I would like to see elevation gain/loss be more prominently displayed but you get an elevation profile of your workout. . Dislikes:. -heart rate monitor: this has been a bit of a disappointment for me. As others have noted, the hr monitor is only really optimized for low activity situations. It does a great job of tracking hr - accurately it seems - during normal wear. Start to work out and things change. It's hard to tell sometimes if the hr tracking is lagging (by a minute or so) compared to my actual current heart rate or if it's just not able to track it effectively at all in more intense situations. I have noticed some element of lag, but i also noticed that it never really shows me accurate "peak" hr readings (even after my workout). It seems as if the higher my hr goes the less accurate it becomes. For instance, i can be putting out maximum effort and be totally anaerobic with a true heart rate (pulse off neck with stopwatch) around 170-180bpm but my surge will report 120 or 110, or maybe 130bpm and tell me i'm in the "fat burn" zone or the "cardio" zone. I can be at the verge of passing out and it will tell me i'm at the same heart rate as when i got up to walk across the office earlier in the day. I've tested this multiple times at different heart rates and found the surge to be off anywhere from 10-50bpm during workouts which is not good. I'll chalk this up to the type of technology they are using which as i understand is only optimal in a resting state, not active (which seems counterintuitive for a fitness watch). I guess you can't win em all. That said, it does to a decent job of tracking overall heart rate during the day and overnight so it's not a total wash. And that factors into your total calorie burn for the day. But for a cyclist/runner/triathlete or someone that is very focused on maintaining hr in a specific zone over long distance, this will not suffice. This is really the only big downside to this watch in my opinion. . -more customization: it would be nice to see a few more watch face options, and be able to set alarm times within the watch itself. Also perhaps some custom workout/run views based on specific needs. The workout duration is the prominent display during workout with things like pace, hr, avg pace, etc being options you have to swipe through. Would be nice to be able to choose what you want displayed all the time and what you want to be able to swipe through. Would also be nice to see a few more notification options aside from text/calls (maybe calendar, reminders, etc). . Fitbit seems to have solved many of the issues i read about in previous reviews with firmware updates (added a cycling workout option, default back to watch face after 10 seconds, etc). I also see that they have an active community site and are soliciting (and seemingly listening to) the community for new features and updates and are working on implementing them over time. I'm excited to see what the next firmware update has to offer. The watch is a great platform that seems to have a lot more potential than it currently offers. Or at least the ability to make some tweaks that would improve the watch significantly. Hopefully that includes something with the hr monitor but that may be a limitation of the type of technology used. . Overall great watch keeping in mind the hr limitations. Would highly recommend it! . . Update: my previous workouts have been under a 50lb ruck, basically a very fast walk for long distances. Arms generally swinging and tends to be hot/humid where i am and therefore very sweaty. Yesterday went on a 4mi run in cool conditions and hrm seemed to work at very acceptable reading levels compared to my ruck workouts. The hr reported by the surge generally seemed accurate for the duration of the run. Not sure if this is due to my arm/wrist position being higher up on my body (and swinging less than while rucking) or the fact that i was basically not sweating on my wrist area. In any event, worth noting that under these conditions the hrm reporter accurate results!

Train smarter and go farther with surge a sleek, fitness super watch designed to help you reach your peak performance. With built-in gps, multisport functionality, and automatic, continuous heart rate, surge delivers the stats you need to measure your effort and maximize your training time. I have had this for a few months now so i feel i can give it a comprehensive review. I upgraded from a fitbit flex and i love the extra features. . Pros:. 1. Great comprehensive tracker. 2. Love the heart rate monitor. 3. Auto sleep tracking, love not having to manually enter it or put it into "sleep mode". 4. Being able to track specific workouts, yoga, biking, weights. 5. Along with tracking your weight you can also track your body fat which i love. . Cons:. 1. Rather large, im more used to it now surprisingly. 2. When i take it off to shower i have a rather large rash on my wrist now. 3. Not water proof or water resistant, very disappointed when i learned that, i liked that i didn't have to take off my flex to shower. 4. Being said that it isn't water proof, i take it off to shower, and still somehow moisture got under the glass. I have since called fitbit and explained and they are sending me a new surge free of charge. 5. With how much use i get out of the surge i find that i am charging it twice a week. . Now that is a rather large amount of cons, but i find this has been my favorite wrist tracker. I think i would choose surge time and again, i love all the features that are an upgrade from other fitbit models. I'm sure their are other things i love that i just can't think of right now. *picture attached is of condensation in my surge* -Notice from S. Connie, Missouri

We've used fitbit surge for about 4 months during bike rides, and it's a fun and excellent way to track distance, heart rate, calories burned, and heart rate zones (peak, cardio, fat burn). We sync fitbit with our cell phone and have a record of our activities, it even maps the route we've biked. Fitbit surge has many more capabilities that we have yet do discover.

- T. RitaI spent quite a bit of time researching the differences between the charge hr, surge, blaze and even the apple watch. After trying a few of them out, i eventually settled on the fitbit surge. Here are a few of the reasons why i chose the surge, as well as what i wish was different now that i've used it for a few months. . I chose the surge for one big reason: gps. Every other device either didn't have gps or needed to be tethered to my phone in order to work. I find that i really like using it for my bike rides and runs - both of which i usually try not to bring my phone. I was afraid that it might feel too big on my wrist but i've easily gotten used to the size and don't mind it at all. . Aside from the gps, i also appreciate the surge over the fitbit hr because of the larger face. I like being able to see my time, heart rate and other information at one glance without having to swipe all the time. . Finally, the battery life has been great for this device and i am constantly using the gps. I get at least 3 days or more of charge with constant use. . Now for a few critiques of the surge. 1) i thought i would wear this device to bed but that idea was quickly abandoned. Anytime i turned over in bed, the backlight would flash and wake me up. This was one of the reasons i chose the surge over the apple watch that ended up not panning out. 2) i did get a skin rash. This is another reason i don't wear the surge to bed. It wasn't a bad rash but it has caused me to carefully consider how long i keep the device on and to make sure i clean it regularly, particularly when i'm using it while sweating. 3) i wish there was more information from the gps. Right now they give me average speed, calories and heart rate info. I wish i could get elevation, mile splits, and markers on the map to indicate mile points. I feel like there's a lot of room for improvement here. 4) as somebody who lives in china, i wish that the notifications on the watch supported chinese characters. It doesn't.

I just got my 3rd fitbit surge. (two of my surges were purchases; one was a warranty replacement. ) the reason for so many product replacements is that the charging port gets yucked up with sweat and dirt, and eventually it stops charging. It's really a design flaw that the charging port directly touches the skin and can be so quickly and easily compromised. After i got my 2nd fitbit surge i became very careful about cleaning the charging cable and charging port with cetaphil and brushing it with a toothbrush to clean out any debris. This cleaning process worked pretty well until just after the product warranty expired. It seems crazy that i have to treat my surge like a toss-away, replaceable device. Anyway, i obviously like the surge product or i wouldn't keep replacing it. I especially like that it's simple to set up, that i can read the display without having to wear my glasses, and that it's easy to use. I also like the fitbit app, including all the cheesy performance badges and the fact that i can track myself against other fitbit users. The surge is really a great product, but engineers - if you're reading this, please add a cover for the charging port.

Fitbit Blaze Smart Fitness Watch, Black, Silver, Large

I've owned several fitbit devices to date along with other brands like the jawbone up, garmin forerunner, and the apple watch. I waited with excitement for my blaze to arrive so i could test its new features and hopefully use this as the only watch i need to wear all the time. I am a fitness enthusiast and love to log workouts in addition to monitoring daily steps and sleep. I've had the blaze for a few weeks now and so far i love some of the features, while some i would have liked to see improved. I will do a quick walkthrough of some key features along with some shortcomings, followed by a quick comparison with the apple watch. . Pros:. . - large screen, easy to read display. - nice gorilla glass screen that doesn't get scratched. - accurate heart rate monitor without the need for chest strap. - automatically tracks steps, sleep, workouts, heart rate. All viewable easily on the screen. - auto activity and sleep tracker without the need to manually start an activity. - great battery life (5-6 days for me so far). - smart notifications (texts, accept or reject calls, calendar appointments) are very convenient. - $199 price point! . . My personal favorite is the auto-track feature. You really don't need to manually start activities like running, walking, or elliptical, the watch automatically picks up these activities and logs them based on movement and heart rate. Very cool feature in my opinion. For spinning, cardio, and weights, you will need to manually start these activities, although it still computes calories burned automatically based on heart rate during these activities. . Cons:. . - hexagonal design may not be aesthetically pleasing (but not bad once you get used to it). - no built-in gps to map runs and bike rides (need to carry phone to map). - not waterproof so can't be worn in the pool. - watch needs to be removed from frame every time for charging. - screen doesn't always come on when i raise my wrist. Gotten used to the correct motion now. - no option to keep screen on at all times (this is probably deliberate to conserve battery life). . Include a gps and make it waterproof - that would make this a near perfect product. . *note that the small and large sizes of the watch simply refer to strap size. The actual watch is just one size. I was confused about this earlier and thought the small and large had different screen sizes. *. . Screen i am used to wearing somewhat large watches like the garmin 920xt, and the blaze is just fine. I had read reviews where people had said it was too big, but in my opinion it has a fairly low profile design. It's smaller than the 920xt, marginally bigger than the apple watch (38mm). Yes, the design may seem odd a bit at first given the width and the space between the frame and actual watch, but the benefit of a large size is that the screen is super easy to read without having to pull your wrist up, a simple flick and you can view all snapshots and smart notifications in a discrete way (useful when you're sitting in meetings). The large display is most helpful when you want to view your progress or view an incoming notification during a workout without having to pause. Design overall honestly seems a little clunky, but i got used to it pretty quick. The buttons on the side turn the display on and let you toggle to different sections. The screen is made from gorilla glass so it should hopefully hold up well against scratches over time, so far it looks new (a screen protector isn't really required). . The screen, similar to the apple watch, stays off, and can be turned on with the simple turn of a wrist. I have found that raising the wrist doesn't always turn on the screen (this works flawlessly with the apple watch), however if you "flick" your wrist towards you, the screen will turn on right away. I guess the correct motion is not so much to raise your wrist, rather spin your wrist. Hope this makes sense, will try to record this and show it in the video part of the review. The screen can be customized based on what and how you wish to view the main screen. The clock, for example, can be set to analog or digital mode. You can choose to view steps, distance, calories, heart rate, floors climbed, and date right on the main screen. It does not show weather like the apple watch does. . Heart rate this is where the blaze shines in my opinion. I have extensively compared heart rate shown by the blaze to that shown by the apple watch (which is usually way off) and that shown by my garmin chest strap hrm, which is considered the most accurate. The blaze, even though it's worn on the wrist, comes extremely close to the chest strap hrm readings. I would say it has consistently been within 95-98% of the chest strap readings. You can view your heart rate real-time during a workout instead of waiting to finish and then viewing average heart rate during an activity. This real-time accurate date is key to determining and maintaining fitness levels, and monitoring which zone you're training in. Very convenient having this feature and accuracy available real-time on your wrist. . Activity tracking the blaze has multi-sport modes that allow you to choose from running, biking, elliptical, weights, or cardio. You can simply select the activity before you start. The automatic tracking feature (smarttrak) is another one of my favorite in the blaze. With the built-in heart rate monitor, it automatically tracks your activities and calories burnt in case you forget to manually start a workout on the watch. Whether i'm on an elliptical or running on a treadmill, it logs the workout and provides a fairly good estimate of calories burnt and average/peak heart rate during the activity. If you go out running, it will show time, distance, average speed, pace, heart rate - all on an easy to read screen. One of the coolest features of this watch! . . The watch does not have a built-in gps, and this is one reason i still have to use my garmin (i always map my routes, just my personal thing). If you want to map your runs, you will need to carry your phone with you and the blaze syncs with your phone to record the route, elevation, etc. I personally don't carry my phone on runs so the lack of a built-in gps was a bummer. For workouts, the watch has fitstar which serves as a virtual coach guiding you through a workout should you need it. I haven't used this much myself so i can't comment on it's usefulness. . Tracking sleep the last fitbit device i had was the flex, and i had to manually start the sleep mode in that. Same goes for my garmin 920xt. With the blaze, it has an auto-sleep feature that doesn't require you to turn on the sleep mode, it will automatically detect that you are sleeping based on lack of movement and heart rate. Small but significant improvement in my opinion. I think the charge had this feature as well, but i'm not entirely sure. For me this is a new feature and i love it. I am not crazy about delving in sleep data, but it's nice to get a snapshot of sleep times and quality of sleep over a period of time. . Smart notifications the blaze provides notifications from your phone right on the screen. It will show incoming calls, texts, and calendar reminders on the screen. I wasn't able to get other notifications to show up on the screen, like whatsapp messages. I did some research and it seems other apps are not yet supported, but i could be wrong on this. The watch also lets you change songs right from the screen, a useful feature to have when you're working out and don't have to reach for your phone to do this. You do have the option to turn all notifications off. I did notice that if i am using my phone like listening to music (and not looking at the phone screen), notifications do not show on the watch. They show up only when the phone is not being used. Maybe there is a fix for this, but so far, this is a minor annoyance. . Battery i usually get a low battery notification on the 6th day after regular use. Pretty good in my opinion specially when compared to the apple watch which i need to charge on a daily basis. That said, having to remove the watch from the strap every time i need to charge is somewhat cumbersome. I charger like the apple watch would have been ideal where you can simply drop the watch on the charging pad and it will charge right away. Note that for the first few days, you might need to charge it sooner than 5-6 days because you are likely to be looking at it more often and using more of its features. . Water resistant the blaze is water resistant, but not waterproof. This means that you cannot take this in the pool or wear it in the shower another reason i have to still use my garmin. Since it is water resistant, it can handle a little but of exposure to water, for example it won't be affected by sweat during a workout. That being said, i have accidentally worn the blaze in the shower a few times already (i'm probably still used to my garmin watch which i didn't need to take off) and the watch held up just fine. But i would recommend taking it off before getting into the shower. . Quick comparison with apple watch:. . - apple watch is sleeker and feels more comfortable on the wrist. Blaze is large and feels awkward initially, at least it takes getting used to. - apple watch has a better and crisper resolution compared to blaze's screen. Difference is not significant in my opinion, given the small screen sizes. - blaze automatically tracks activity and sleep. Apple watch doesn't track sleep and requires you to manually start logging an activity. - both have smart notifications and show text messages, calls, calendar appointments, but apple watch lets you do more like view whatsapp messages and other phone notifications, and answer calls right on the watch. - blaze has a 5-6 day battery life with normal use compared to apple watch which needs to be charged every 1-2 days. - blaze - $199, apple watch - $349 for base model. . Bottom line:. . - if you have an older fitness tracker band like the fitbit flex or jawbone up, the blaze is a great upgrade with all its new features (heart rate monitor, auto activity/sleep tracker, smart notifications). - if you have an apple watch, i guess the blaze doesn't offer that much more to make it worthy of a switch (though i'm a huge fan of the accurate hrm and auto tracking in the blaze). - if this is the first fitness tracking device you're considering, i definitely recommend it. The design may seem odd at first, but i got used to it pretty quick. . Hope you find this review helpful. Please feel free to post questions and i will try to answer them in a timely manner. . -. . Update 5/12/16 -. . I've had this watch for over 2 months now and it has been working great, nice solid product with stable performance. Just adding a few minor observations in addition to the initial review:. . - if you let the watch automatically track a workout, it starts logging it after the first 5-10 minutes, basically only once your heart rate picks up. So say you are biking for an hour, the watch might log it only as a 50 minute workout because your heart rate was still low for the first 10 minutes. Minor issue, immaterial in my opinion - if you want a precise log of your workouts, you can manually start the workout on the watch and it will log it as a 1-hour workout. Also, i think the calculated calories burnt during a workout are on the low side. For example, the difference in calories burnt on a day when i haven't worked out compared to a day when i got for a 7 mile run is only 300-400 calories, when it should be significantly more. . - the watch automatically detects when you're sleeping based on movement (lack of) and heart rate, however it doesn't automatically turn off notifications during this time. Very minor issue but it would have been excellent if the watch could automatically turn off phone notifications during this period. To turn off notifications when sleeping, you can either put your phone in sleep mode, or switch off notifications on the watch by simply swiping down on the main screen. I don't usually receive messages late at night so i don't even bother turning notifications off. . - i have been wearing the watch every day in the shower and it works just fine. Rather convenient not having to take it off every day. That said, the product literature still recommends not to wear it in the shower even though it is water resistant. I haven't gone as far as to try it in the pool yet, and i wouldn't take that risk. . - the battery consistently lasts a solid 5-6 days, and charging now seems less cumbersome as it did in the first few days. I bought a spare charger and keep one at work and one at my bedside. Charging speed is pretty good - it gets from empty to a full charge in about 30 minutes or so. Battery status is displayed on top in the app, so you know when to put it to charge. You also receive emails when the battery level is low. . -. . Update 6/1/16 -. . I accidentally wore this in the pool last week and it held up just fine! it showed my heart rate, and the watch kept functioning properly. The only thing i noticed was that the screen's touch sensitivity was a little off when the watch was wet (perhaps due to the water droplets interfering with the touch), but that problem went away once i got out of the pool. So i have worn it a few times in the pool since and it works just fine. That being said, i would say wear it in the pool at your own risk. Fitbit clearly says that the watch is splash-proof and not waterproof. Not sure if taking it in the water will void the warranty. Anyway, thought i'd add this revelation to the review!

Overall, i'm quite pleased with my purchase of the fitbit blaze. I was originally only in the market for a pedometer and heart-rate monitor for my walking regimen, but my research indicated that the blaze received top marks in both. I make ample use of it, though not to its ultimate potential, since i don't use any of the built-in workouts. However, in conjunction with the app for my phone i have used it to reach daily goals in steps taken, calories consumed, and even track my sleep patterns. I've had it for just over three weeks and have lost 7-8 pounds, thanks in large measure to the helpful calorie guide in the app and reminders on the watch. Additionally, i've discovered that my sleep patterns work best on a particular kind of mattress, which is going to guide my upcoming purchase of a new one. . The feature that allows me to read incoming texts (though not to respond from the watch), and calendar reminders linked to my phone are helpful, though not entirely necessary. They seem to be making a foray into smart-watch territory, without really going all-in lest they be compared to applewatch, and found wanting. I only use the music remote feature sparingly, since my headphones already have the same onboard play/pause/skip functions, though it has proven useful a time or two when controlling my music playback through the house stereo. . There are a couple of downsides, hence the 4 and not 5 star rating. The most significant of which is the "quick-look" feature, which causes the screen to light up as you turn it toward you to look, in that universal flick of the wrist that all watch wearers employ. Because it's a smart-watch with a back-lit screen, that's also syncing regularly with your phone, it tends to chew up batter-life. One way to combat that is to keep the screen dark unless you're looking right at it. The motion-detectors in the watch could use some work. I've heard tell of those that are super sensitive and come one every other minute, but mine is the opposite. I often have to give it two or three wrist flicks to activate it, which is annoying but far from a deal-breaker. . As i mentioned, it is a smart-watch so that implies the necessity to charge it. When i first got the unit i went the full 5 days that the manufacturer says it can. Unfortunately, as i began using more and more of the features and customizing it for my use and comfort (brighter display, multiple daily alarms etc. ) it meant i was using up more of the batter life than the default settings would, so it's actually about a 3 day cycle between charges. It takes about 2 hours to go from zero to fully-charged, which i typically do in the evenings when i'm lounging on the couch and don't need it anyway. I always put it back on before bed to track my sleep patterns, which are surprisingly accurate according to my experience in getting up to use the bathroom or answer a phone call. . Additionally, the watch has four available screen profiles to suit different aesthetic tastes, from analogue watch hands to space-age numerics. Unfortunately, each profile has its own unique properties, such as displays for heart/steps/calories as well as the date. No one profile has all of the various options in it. So although i wish to be able to see the date at all times, the profile that shows that won't show me how many steps i've made toward my goal without going past the home screen and into the stats menu (which is really just a left swipe on the screen, so not that big a deal). All of the profiles have various pluses and minuses like that, when what i want is for all of them to give me the complete options package. Again, small problems and not deal-breakers. . In conclusion, it's been a terrific device and well worth the investment. I recently got a desk job and have been looking for a way to stay active and keep an eye on my weight, and this fits that to a t. Aside from a couple of design quibbles, i couldn't be happier. And who can argue with 7 pounds of weight loss? -Notice from S. Whiteman, British Columbia

There are a lot of good reviews on this fit bit. I am upgrading from a flex and my blaze arrives tomorrow. I have seen complaints of people concerned and annoyed about having to pop it out of the band to charge it. There is a charger that clips around the device while in the band. It runs between 7. 00 and 13. 00 on online store.

- Q. AngelicaI am in love with this fitbit blaze! i've always had the fitbit one (the kind that has a clip - not a wristband). I rarely wear bracelets because i they tend to annoy me, so i've never had a fitbit that i wear on my wrist. However, when the price on the blaze came down, i figured it was at least worth a shot. And i'm glad i did! . . I know people compare this to an apple watch. I don't own an apple watch, but i have friends that do. This is not the same, but has some features that are useful and sort of "mimic" the other smart watches out there, including apple. First of all, there are no apps for this. You can't see your photos, you can't answer texts or calls. However - you do get text messages, alerts for certain apps that you have on your phone, and alerts of phone calls. This has been a lifesaver to me! i often keep my phone on silent for work and this lets me know when i get a text or call - all while being discreet. You can also control your music/audio through your watch. This is great if you are exercising and your phone is on your arm band. Have you ever tried to look at your upper arm and control your iphone through a piece of plastic? well, let's just say, it's a challenge and doesn't work well. This feature solves that problem! . . And of course, there is the fitbit functionality. It has all the things that you would expect from a fitbit watch - measure of steps, mileage, heart rate, calories, floors climbed. Sleep is tracked, but the data is only accessible through the app or website, not the watch itself. I love when i reach my goal and my fitbit buzzes and has a series of fireworks and celebrations. Makes me want to work hard to get that stupid little surprise when i've reached my goal! (call me a nerd! ) fitbit also has an exercise regime that you can access directly from your watch, but i haven't used that feature yet. There is a timer (stopwatch or countdown), which is super useful in my job - and also alarms that you can set from the app. The battery lasts for a good 4-5 days, and i'm constantly looking at it (which turns it on, and probably uses up the charge). The charger is somewhat awkward, since you have to remove the face to charge it, but it's a minor inconvenience. I bought a third-party charger, which allows me to charge it with the band on, but i don't know if it really saves too much time or hassle. . What about comfort? that was one of my main concerns. I'm not a fan of having things around my wrist. Yet, i've gotten used to this little guy. I tend to loosen it up when i sleep, so it doesn't press on my wrist as tightly. I will admit - i mostly wear the melanese metal bands that come from third-party companies, just because i like the look better, but even when i've worn the fitbit band, it's been comfortable. . And let's talk about the look of the thing. I have very small wrists and i was concerned about it looking huge and awkward. Thank goodness, it doesn't! the face is somewhat boxy, making it not quite as "smooth" as an apple watch. But the funny thing is that i have people all the time asking me if i have an apple watch! as i mentioned earlier, i've purchased a few of the third-party milanese bands. I really like the looks and i feel like they help to cut down on the "bulk" of the watch. I like that you can change the look of the face. There are several that i've tried - and i like switching them up to fit my mood. . Lastly, i want to discuss customer service. This is a lot of money to be spending on a device. If you have problems, you want to make sure that the company will support you - and do what is right and fair. Fitbit might likely have the most superb customer service of any company i've dealt with. I've owned a fitbit for the past 5 years. I've owned several models. Every time i've contacted customer service (which truthfully isn't often), they've been extremely helpful and have always solved my problem. I even lost my clip-on fitbit once and customer service helped me download an app that tracked it down! . . So, overall, this is a great watch from a great company. It may not have all of the functionality of a true smartwatch, but has enough to make it very useful. It's good looking, comfortable to wear, and has superb customer service. If you're on the fence, i say go for it! you won't be disappointed!

I am amazed at how much more comfortable this is too wear vs the charge hr. It is bigger but not as tall and feels like a snug fitting watch. If you are on the fence and thinking about purchasing one do not wait! love the large color screen and how easy it is to set up. I had the blaze up and running in 5 minutes. Only negatives which i knew before buying is it is not waterproof and the charger appears to be an afterthought. It is not hard to charge but just seems so unintuitive. A magnetic charger like the apple watch would have been the better approach. Btw i also have an apple watch that i gave to my son. The fitbit is a much better fitness device than the apple watch and that is from someone who loves apple products.

The F.A.Q. for Fitbit Aria Wi-fi Smart Scale, Black (FB201B)

I got the fitbit aria scale to pair with my fitbit charge and also link with myfitnesspal, and in general just make my health journey a bit more streamline. And i must admit, it really does add value to that, compared to my non wi-fi digital scale that i used for years. . The design is sleek and sexy (i got it in white) and is not an eyesore in my bathroom. The scale is very responsive, and seems to be quite accurate on weight and body fat. I love that it auto-syncs to my fitbit and myfitnesspal apps, so i don't need to worry about remember to manually enter it. I also like the feature that it can recognize up to 8 people. My bf uses it occasionally and it knows when it is me or him that steps in the scale. Overall, it is certainly overpriced for what it is, but if you can get over that, i think it's a fantastic and sleek fitness tool to have. If i didn't use/have a fitbit charge, i probably would not be able to justify purchasing this scale. But if you do, i think you will notice that it does add value to your fitness regimen.

Answer:

The scale is a bit tricky to set up. In a nutshell, the way it works is that the setup application guides you by gathering your wi-fi information, disconnects your pc/tablet/phone from your wi-fi, connects to you to the scale's wi-fi which acts as an access point, sends the connection information, then the scale connects to your wi-fi, you connect back to your wi-fi, and it's all done. The windows app didn't work for me, so i used the web-based app for phones on an android tablet and it worked. . Now the tricky part is to get your weight to show up as yours, not as a guest. For that, you need to go to your fitbit account on the web site (the fitbit app doesn't do this). Then you claim the measurements as yours by selecting yourself on the dropdown box. From now on the scale will "recognize" you. . The rationale for buying this scale and why i would recommend it when it costs 7-8 times what a standard digital scale would is that getting a single measurement is insignificant. When you weigh yourself, you want to know the trends over a period of time, whether you're going up or down or steady, and some days fluctuate. You can do it on any scale by logging the data into excel and that's how i did it in the past, but this is so much more convenient, as the data just pops up on the fitbit dashboard!

Admittedly, i haven't had this for too long, but so far, so good. The only real reason i'm writing a review is to comment on the setup issue that so many reviews touch on. I had this thing setup in 5 min and did nothing beyond following the directions.

Only average of 3. 6 stars for this baby? man there are some harsh judgement out there. I have been using my aria for 3 years. My weight fluctuates quite a bit, with water weight, and my winter sedentary lifestyle, and high level of activities in the summer. I'm not an elite athlete, i've never trained for anything, i'm not trying to measure my body fat % to the hundredth of a decimal point. I'm your average do some yoga here and there, run maybe once or twice a week, bike here and there, sorta gal. So for my purposes, this scale has been great. With the phone app and the website, i like that it keeps tracks of everything and trends it out in a chart. Fun to look at. It has been 3 years since i bought my aria. I have no weighed myself recently because i have been in denial about the weight i gained this winter. I'm just starting my spring exercise program so i decided it's time to face the ugliness and get a baseline start weight. But, the screen is totally black. Changed the batteries to no avail. I actually waited more than a month, i thought it would magically revive. Replaced batteries again. Finally i went to the fitbit website and talked to customer support over the livechat. Literally within 5 minutes, they have ordered me a new aria and it's on its way. What amazing customer service and product guarantee! . I'm absolutely astounded again! . They don't even care when you bought it! all they asked was where you got it from, and they don't even require proof of that. I guess if you got it off craigslist maybe that voids the warrantee lol. So here i am, happy as a clam, waiting for my new aria. Hopefully this next one will last more than 3 years, but heck if they'll replace it again if it breaks, i'm ok with that.

*update: added two stars since my weight on a digital fitness scale in a medical facility and my weight at home were the same within a . 25 of a pound. *. . After reading the reviews i was expecting a lot of problems but there really were none. I'm giving 3 stars because i have only had the scale for 3 days. We all know electronics can work for the first week/month/year and then freak out. . Setting it up was much easier than the reviews lead me to believe. Before starting set up i changed my generic wifi network names so they didn't have any dashes since reviewers said that was a problem. I set my 2. 4 ghz network to b/g/n since aria only works with b, which is so silly because b is ancient. I did the set-up over my ipad and there were 0 problems. It didn't stall, there was no need to reset anything or remove batteries, i proceeded from step to step until the scale was ready to go. The whole process took about 2-4 minutes. . I put the scale on the linoleum by my front door since i live in a tiny apartment that doesn't have hardwood or tile. I did a few trials and the weight/bf readings seemed both accurate and consistent. There was a little variance (+/- 2 lbs) when i moved the scale to the kitchen, so i decided to leave it by the door and not move it. . I've been trying to lose weight for 2-2. 5 weeks and my weight was about 7 pounds less than my previous recorded weight in a medical facility. The real test of the scale is when i'll be weighed again this week. If i show a 5-7 lb weight loss there i will add stars. If i don't show that range of weight loss i will buy a piece of heavy tile to put the scale on to see if i can get a better reading. . I accidentally discovered a way to get my weight down by 20 lbs by repositioning my feet towards the outer edge of the scale. So i make sure to stand with my feet mostly together, toes near the dial, when weighing myself. From what i understand the aria goes for accuracy above consistency (ie it's not programmed to show you your last recorded weight if your new weight is within a certain range) so it may be more sensitive to positioning. . Since i'm trying to see drops by 5-10-20 lbs, 1-2 lb variance is not that important to me. If it's important to you buy a physician's balance beam scale that uses counterweight. They are only $20-50 more than this scale here on online store. I didn't get one because i don't have room to keep it. Counterweight scales are usually found in gyms as well so if your weight seems wrong pop into your gym and weigh yourself to check. These are the scales people usually say are "heavy" which is a dysphemism for "more accurate than my electronic scale at home. ". . Of course half the fun is that it works with my zip and the fitbit dashboard so i can use it to set goals and monitor my progress. I've had no problem with my data syncing. Adding multiple users takes a few minutes and you can do it from the app or the dashboard.

M. Perez, Northamptonshire says

The one thing that i like about this scale is that it won't let me lie to myself. When i weigh myself, it syncs straight to my fitbit account. It doesn't give me the option to save or not save like my old scale, so if i'm up, it's recorded. I weighed myself on both this scale and my old scale and they were within about a half a pound of each other so i'm guessing that it's a fairly accurate scale since my old one was. I took off one star because it took me forever to get the thing setup. After several failed attempts, it suggested that i contact customer service. I contacted customer service and got an email reply that it could take several days for a response and i should try to go to the online community to find help. That's really ticked me off. I spent over $100 on a scale and all i got from customer service was an automated message that wasn't even geared to my issue. Apparently my issue was common one, so it was easy for me to find the answer in the community, but you would think if it was so common, customer service could have pointed me in a better direction. And then, after cancelling my help request, explaining that i found my own answer, they sent me an email wanting to know what i though of their customer service. Okay. That got off topic. I like the scale.

I've had this for just about an a year and a half and i really like it! . . Pros:. - it integrates with fitbit and makes logging weight very seamless and goes right into the fitbit interface. - it's pretty slick looking, for a scale. - multiple profiles is easy to manage and pretty accurate at guessing who's on the scale (i currently have a household of 2). - battery lasts for pretty long time - i think i've gone over a year before having to change, with nearly daily weigh-ins. . Cons:. - set up was finnicky. I had a bunch of trouble but was able to get it going, and i'm very tech savvy; i could imagine people who are less patient or tech-savvy might get annoyed. - the shiny surface does get drip spots if you keep it near your shower - they wipe away with a regular glass cleaner, but if you're ocd that could bother you. - occasionally, the wifi connection has been janky; i don't know whether that was an issue with the scale or with my wifi. It seems to resolve itself any time it happens though

It works just fine. I was able to sync it to my fitbit account easily the first time when i first bought it in august 2015 using the step by step guide within the fitbit app on my iphone. It measures weight accurately although the body fat measurement seems a couple percentage points high compared to other methods i have used. But as long as the trend is in the direction i want it to be, i figure that's good enough. It stopped syncing a few months ago and i didn't bother figuring out why until today (march 4, 2016). I kept trying to set it up and get it to communicate with my device but it wouldn't. I was about to write an angry review calling it junk, and light up the fitbit forums. Then i decided to swap out the batteries and then it worked/synced again the way it's supposed to. I had not thought to change the batteries because i got no indication to, but naturally the battery indicator in my fitbit app was not up to date since it hadn't synced in forever. I guess the battery indicator on the scale could be a little more accurate, but it's a lesson to me that when in doubt change the batteries. You certainly don't need this scale to lose weight and change your body composition but it's fun tracking all the data on the fitbit app.

Love, love, love this scale! i'm not big on paying attention to a number that varies quite a bit from day to day, and even throughout a single day, so i hardly ever bothered stepping on the scale. My wife wanted this because she uses a fitbit, and i'm very happy we got it. . First, it was very easy to setup. My wife usually asks me to handle all the "tech" stuff, but she set this up herself in just a couple minutes following the included instructions. A minute later, she stepped on, and within a few seconds, her weight and body fat % were showing up in her fitbit app. . It recognizes multiple users without us having to do anything, and because all i have to do is step on, weight a few seconds, then step off, i'm now in the habit of weighing myself daily. I don't care what the number says each day, but i've made some adjustments to my eating habits after seeing the trendline over a couple weeks. It's really nice to be able to check my phone whenever i want to see how i'm doing. . I'm not sure how much i trust the accuracy of the body fat % measurement, but for us, that wasn't a primary motivator for buying this. . If you have an iphone, the fitbit data will sync with healthkit data, so any measurements collected by the scale will be available in many different apps.

D. Stacey, Champagne-Ardenne says

I'd been using the fitbit one with great success for 6 months, dropping over 25 pounds. And one day, our health-o-meter digital scale just stopped working. Since i was already using a fitbit one and am familiar with the fitbit online dashboard, the aria has been a no-brainer replacement for my old scale. . The hardware. In some ways, the glass top makes the aria seem fragile, as does its slim height. However, this thing is heavy, and feels fairly solid on the inside. The aria is also pretty bulky, larger than any other scale i've owned. . The software. Setting up the fitbit aria is incredibly simple. The instructions are in the box, and in my case the wireless setup went exactly as the instructions indicated, without a hitch. Not all online store reviewers have been this lucky, so be aware that depending on your network you may encounter some issues. . Once connected, the fitbit aria will sync your weight and body fat to 'the cloud': a fitbit dashboard utility that is free. You can read this information in a browser and also install supporting software on your pc, mac, or mobile phone. You can do all sorts of things with the information, such as start logging your food and exercise and make the aria part of your weight control plan, but in my case it just gets lumped in with the fitbit one data i was already using. Other people in the house can use the scale as much as they like without having an account, or you can have the fitbit send them a setup e-mail that will start tracking their weight: up to 8 different people can have this feature. . The readings. So let's talk for a moment about the accuracy. Since my old scale was broken, it's hard to be 100% sure they would match up, but it seems to be reading about the same weight as my old digital scale. I've seen no reason to doubt the weight readings. . The body fat though is a different story. I've learned how to use a pair of calipers to do the 'pinch test' of body fat percentage, a process that requires some time and a partner: pinch several places, jot down the numbers, run them through an online calculator. The aria skips all this hassle and uses electrostatic technology to 'read' your body fat in a few seconds. I've noticed it can be about a percentage off from my pinch measurements, and it is affected by other factors. If i've had a lot of water to drink but it's because i just did a ton of cardio and sweated a lot off, i might see the body fat reading go up. Which can't be right if i haven't eaten since the last measurement and i've just been drinking water. If i'm wet from the shower, that also tends to change the reading. My conclusion is it's best to step on the fitbit dry and naked at the beginning of the day. If you want to take readings more often, expect the numbers of both body fat and weight to move around. Long term, you'll see if you're on an upward or downward trend, and i've even had days where i lose a pound but gain a percent. . For you. It's important to remember that your goals are long-term and not worry about every day. Step on the scale at the same time every day, but think about the numbers in weeks or even months. The body fat is a nice measurement to keep you thinking about how much fat you take in and how much you burn, but don't rely on the aria to be super-precise: be happy with the fact that it's still pretty good. . Conclusion:. The fitbit aria is a bit pricey for digital scales, but if you're looking for a way to lump in a lot of information, the online aspect is a big extra that the fitbit brings to the table. If you're already used to fitbit devices, you'll find this integrates into the dashboard really well.

Oh how i loved this scale. It's slick, sophisticated, - and luxurious design made me very happy. The impressive technology in it amazed me. However, the ease in which it can be shattered is devastating. I saw another review of a shattered scale, but the customer dropped nail polish or something on it. I told myself i would be extra careful. I must not have informed my darling husband. He just showed me the damages done to my beautiful, expensive scale and weight loss companion. All he did, he says, is slide it under the vanity. He'd forgotten that our old scale was still under there. When aria (fitbit's name for the scale) touched the older scale, the older scale was finally able to release its jealous frustration, i guess. Well played older scale, well played. :'(. . Update 5/20/2016. . I adore fitbit and their customer service! i called customer support like they advised in the comments below and they're sending me a new one! i am so very appreciative. My advice to anyone buying the scale: like all modern technology, it is fragile. Just be mindful of where you put it and how you move it. If you treat it carefully, you're going to love it. Also, if you have any problems, calmly call customer service. Be kind and explain whats going on. I have found that being kind and considerate to customer service representatives (of any company) truly makes their day. Being nice is a win/win! . . Hope my review helps :)

I am no fitness professional, nor even a avid healthy person. I was/am a morbidly obese middle aged man who had severe back problems due to my weight. So, i started to diet. I tried some other scales but they varied greatly from day to day on what they would report my weight to be. I was not that interested in bmi as my weight was more on a scale that would show improvement. I was looking for day to day validation that what i was doing was working. This scale provided me with accurate weight measurements and automatically uploads them to my dashboard on fitbit. Com and ties in with my fitbit one (now fitbit charge hr) to show basically how active i am and how my diet is doing. Since i started this diet i have lost over 80 pounds, i have about 45 to go before i will consider myself done. The aria scale gives me a reminder daily of how i am doing and i find that i think about it whenever i am thinking on cheating on my diet (i do cheat, otherwise what is the use of living? ). Weighing yourself daily is a fantastic tool to use to help manage your own weight, having it historically kept for reference and a enthusiasm boost when you need it is awesome. I show people the graph of when i started to where i am now and its a nice slanted line from top left to bottom right, it really helps to motivate me and keep me motivated. . Anyway, love it, recommend it to anyone who feels the need to lose weight.

Love the scale! it works great - remember this one thing:. Do the setup through your phone! follow the directions, but use your phone and not your computer or laptop as it will not complete using a pc. Also, when you weigh your self for the first time you may not see it on your dashboard. If this happens go to the settings icon and click on the scale. Click on the "measurements" tab, and under "people" you will see a drop down. Click here and select your name that you entered during setup. Now you should see your info on the dashboard. Finally, if you already have a fitbit account you needn't set up another one; just log in to your existing account. Cheers!

Like many buyers of this scale, i've recently taken the fitbit plunge and wanted to include this scale to easily track weight and body fat fluctuations. Visually, the scale is very impressive. I got the black version and it is thin, sleek, and substantial (footprint, heft). The glass is perfectly smooth, edge beveled, and the weigh-in process (step on to step off) is done in less than 5 seconds. Aesthetically as well as fit, feel, and finish, this is a 5-star product. . Functionally, there are a few problems. First, connecting the scale can be a challenge. The process includes broadcasting the id of the scale, connecting to this "wifi network" on the phone, and then switching the network of the phone back to your personal wifi network. It took me several tries but eventually it worked and has worked flawlessly since. Unfortunately i've forgotten the exact problem i experienced but i do recall having to switch networks while my phone displayed a webpage that was reading "connecting". Anyway - see this page: . If you run into trouble. In contrast to this setup process, all other scale settings (users and their profiles) are very easy to setup once the scale is working correctly with the network. Additionally, i haven't had any issues with connectivity once the scale was setup correctly the first time. . Secondly, the scale must be used on a hard surface. In our bathroom, a rug sometimes slips slightly under the edge of scale and can really throw off the reading. If this happens, my reading can be confused with my wife's and the scale can start to get confused. Fortunately, all the readings are stored online and the erroneous readings can be easily removed on the website. If the scale is free from the rug, it never confuses my wife and my readings. . Finally, the body-fat reading is precise but probably not accurate. By default, the scale is set to regular for a user and read my body fat read 12. 5%. After i switched to "slim" body type, the reading dropped to 6%. Using a handheld body fat tester i'm around 8-9% . The good thing is that this reading, like the weight, is very repeatable. Also, it's clearly independent from the weight measurement. For example if you drink a bunch of water and wait 10 mins, your weight will be up but you body fat reading may fall. Of course, what's happening is that the scale is simply measuring an electrical signal and then converting this to a % body fat. Ideally, the fitbit site would let you input your exact body fat number (taken with a vibrational or displacement measurement) at a point in time and this number could be used to calibrate the electrical to % body fat conversion. To my knowledge, no consumer scale allows this calibration to be done today. To me it's not a huge issue as the body fat is consistent and a useful metric as i increase my lifting and muscle mass. . This leads to perhaps the greatest strength of this device; statistics. Many folks roll their eyes when you tell them that your scale uploads your weight to the cloud. However, body weight fluctuates throughout the day and week. With this scale, i've found myself weighing myself several times per day and looking at my data over a week or month, clear trend lines can be seen despite the daily fluctuations. Ultimately, this is the reason that i bought the scale and makes me very happy. . I held off on rating this scale until i had used it for several weeks. Initially, (after the setup headaches) i would have leaned towards 3 stars. During the first 1-2 weeks, my frustrations with body fat settings and trouble with the rug in our bathroom, i would have probably gone with 4 stars. However, understanding these issues and more importantly, seeing the benefits of frequent weight measurements, i couldn't be happier with the purchase. I strongly recommend that anybody happy with their fitbit and serious about achieving their weight loss goals, take a good look at this high quality product. . Update: i still have the scale and it's working great. I get about 6 months or so between battery changes and it was pretty painless moving to a new place with a different network setup (even though i had completely forgotten the setup process). Overall, the aria scale is proving to be very easy to stick with. I can't think of what else could obsolete this device anytime soon so i anticipate many more years of use.
